Hi! Cool, thanks for playing! Yeah, the fireball should maybe travel faster than the player and maybe i'll adjust that after the voting ends :)

I watched the stream and it seems you're panicking a lot when the enemy apears and kind of just stand in place instead of moving outside of the shadows attack range. He only does damage for the 3-4 frames he's completely visible and doesn't move once he starts his animation so you should be able to outrun him once he appears. One way to cheese him would be to just run back and forth on the floor with a fireball on top of the player

That's not very constructive.. You're saying there are "some bugs" in my game, then don't mention what they are. What about the wall jumping do you feel is a bug?

Hi! Yes! Sorry I missed that, it's updated now

Thanks for the feed back, and glad you liked it!

Yeah, I'll be sure to update how the intern effect is displayed to the player after the game jam ends. It's definitely not great that you buy an upgrade and you can't measure the effect that the purchase had

Cool, can't go wrong with a classic!

Thank you for requalifying us!

Are you then saying that the tool for painting in ascii that the jam host post should not be used? https://itch.io/queue/c/1169608/software-pixelascii?game_id=270445

Since it does the very same thing, i.e rendering in layers?

This game does the same https://alex5ander.itch.io/ascii-invaders
I'm sure more submissions have done it too; not sure why ours should expect a lower rating..

Could anyone answer? I spent 2 weeks of my life making this game, which I thought turned out pretty good(considering it's only ascii characters). Then the host for  some reason says "Disqualified, as this is definitely not an ASCII-based game." without any sort of explaination for why this "definitely" isn't a ascii based game.

I think right now that the host simply doesn't know why, and have chosen to ignore it to not embarrass themselves, ignoring the time and effort we put in to make this game.

Please correct me if I'm wrong

What makes it not an ascii based game?

How so?
All "graphics" are made combining ascii characters, even the backgrounds.

Here's the font source https://style64.org/c64-truetype?fbclid=IwAR2oi_TPw8ouLK9FPeAzHnrNfzHa8MKyiq6YoJ...

And they're not prerendered as pngs, they are just plainly in the code and then rendered
