Very fun and good looking game! I do see some potentially broken combos but haven't yet managed to actually pull one off.

Good job!

That was a lot of fun! Great job to the both of you!

Yes, some of them definitely require more patience and planning than others! And even more if you start combining multiple ones at once..!

Thank you for playing and for your comment :)

I really loved the look and feel of the game! The theme was slightly depressing, but that's obviously expected here. In the same vein, the gameplay was a bit slow for my taste, but it makes sense for the type of game.

I managed to make it out on my second go, and I enjoyed the experience.

Very nice and original submission - good job :)

No worries hehe, I still mark it as a win in my book! ✨

This was really well made. I spent way too much time on it, and everything worked flawlessly, until... my character disappeared and the game stopped responding to any controls as I was making my way back to the final door :(

This happened when I jumped into spikes after getting one of the "hidden" bonuses.

Still, it was a fantastic submission! Well done!

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it! :)

It does indeed lack a bit in terms of onboarding, I sadly didn't quite get to it time-wise before the jam ended.

I'll likely expand on it and/or build something in the same vein post-jam, so keep an eye on my itch.io profile in the upcoming... months and months and months 😂

That was fun! I kind of went speedrunning-mode on my first attempt and finished in 0:27 by abusing the left wall at the start, but did another go with what seems to be the expected path afterwards and it was quite challenging.

The controls and/or movement were a tiny bit finicky at times, but not enough to ruin the experience - I still had a good time playing it.

Overall, good submission!
Well done :)

Absolutely beautiful submission! Really well paced. Easy to grasp, but still difficult to win (well, I won on my first attempt, but I had 4s left so I think that was just beginner's luck!)

I also enjoyed all the easter eggs and the joke with the sign at the front.

Well done!

This was absolutely fantastic. Thank you for this beautiful game!

Nicely done! Fun gameplay - a bit stressful at times, but just enough!

I had a bit of trouble adjusting to the shooting early on (it seemed to shoot a tiny bit besides my actual cursor location), but overall everything worked very well and was quite intuitive.

Balancing the mining, shopping and search for other outposts between waves was quite challenging as time went on.

Good job on a great submission!

Thanks for the comment! Difficulty ramps up way too quickly indeed!

I also didn't get the time to add in the shop as I had planned; the original plan was to allow players to buy upgrades, such as "+1 max erasures" or "Gain +1 erasure per coin collected". Still happy I got this far in just a few evenings of work though!

That's exactly the feeling I was looking for! ✨

Great entry!

I liked the visual feel; like everyone else in here, I was stunned by the whiteboard animation effects.

Although I am no memelord myself, I did enjoy the classic memes making an appearance.

The only issues I had were:

  • Rotating items wasn't very intuitive (I only found out about this when reading the comments here, after playing through two attempts).
  • There's a lack of healing, which made nearly impossible to get further than 3-4 levels in my experience (or perhaps I was just unlucky with loot?).

Other than these two nits, which can very much be explained by the short duration of the jam, I think this was a very good game overall!

Great job to you for this submission :)

Yeah I should've spent a bit more time on level design to make the difficulty ramp up a little more smoothly; apparently my level design skills need a bit of improvement hehe!

Also, a fun fact since you mentioned erasing the floor: there's actually a level (I think level 4?) where erasing the floor actually gets you on a hidden floor below the regular floor, which allows you to bypass most of the level and get an extra coin!

Ahhh that definitely explains it! Thanks!

Very good submission!

It seems turn order is a really big indicator of who will win when you play against AI, but I guess that's just an inherent flaw of the core gameplay which can't really be fixed unless you add more random elements into it. In any case, for a game jam game, this isn't a game breaker at all - I still had lots of fun playing the game!

One thing I would suggest is improving the UI for the action buttons; I had a very hard time figuring out which action was selected at any given time, and often erased when I actually to move.

Overall though, a great entry, especially for a solo dev. Great job!

I painted a beautiful cat! I even (accidentally) left some rocks in the river! (oopsie, just noticed I also left the stencil in the final picture).

This was a nice, original, and calming entry! I liked the concept, and although the keybinds seemed a bit daunting at first, seeing them in the UI did make things a lot less complex than I had initially expected.

One small nitpick is that the eraser wasn't erasing in a very smooth fashion when moving the mouse quickly, but if you take your time it worked fine (which forces you to slow down and chill out a bit, which really isn't that bad after all!).

Overall, a nice entry - good job to you! :)

Very fun (and challenging!) concept. Trying to play this alone was tough - I kept losing track of which hand controlled which character - but that's definitely part of the game's charm and difficulty.

I really liked the style of the introduction - beautiful art! The background music was also nice!

I played on MacOS and had a few issues with the scaling:

I also had some issues with the controls at times, where a character would seemingly be blocked from going in a certain direction for a while, without any clear indications why (although that may just be me being bad).

The terrain was also a bit hard to read - some parts seemed to be elevated, but I wasn't clear which ones, and where to enter them from.

Overall though, I did enjoy the game! Good job to the three of you! :)

Lovely submission!

Navigating the packed rooms towards the end was getting tricky, but I did manage to clean up everything. I liked the art style and the music. Figuring out which tools do what was interesting in the beginning, and felt pretty intuitive.

I do feel like there's a little something missing to make this a bit more fun as it quickly got repetitive for me, but it is a 1-week jam gam after all, and I think this was a very good submission overall! Good job to the four of you!

P.S.
I did encounter a bug at some point where the screen turned gray and I couldn't do anything, other than press Esc and go back to the menu. But that didn't occur again in my second attempt, so I couldn't tell you what went wrong there.

Well, at least I learned from my time in Zach Mode! Stopped at wave 18 because the difficulty had hit a plateau, but still a lot of fun! Definitely a much more challenging start without Zach Mode on 😅

hahahahaha! that explains a lot 😂 well, I did enjoy feeling really good at the game! I'll try again without Zach mode and see how I fare!

The popsicle stick was just a random idea I had in my head but... as soon as I put it in, I was sold! It just completed the visual feel so nicely ✨

Thanks! I'm new to this and still trying to figure out how to structure game projects hehe, but I just looked at your itch and saw your game jam template... might try it out and take inspiration from it for the next times! :)

Just like @IsItLucas mentioned, my game also froze a few minutes in - I think it's whenever I got to 10 souls.

I still managed to rush to the slime boss and get him down (I just spammed attack and got lucky he didn't attack much hehe).

I enjoyed the opening, as simple as it was, as well as the map generation, and trying to dodge enemies to avoid having to fight and instead just get to the chests! I expect there would be more for me to like had it not been for the game freezing.

One thing I wasn't sure about it how the "Erase" theme fit into this - perhaps I just didn't get far enough to see it?

In any case, I think this is a pretty good start for a game - probably just a bit too large a scope for a single dev to get through in a week if I had to guess! :p

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback!

There's a "progress bar" kind of widget on the eraser that shows how much you can still erase, but it's not very clear indeed. I had planned to customise it in order to make it much more obvious, but I just had to ship the game as-is after I got sick. But great feedback nonetheless

You're absolutely right for the jumps as well; there's definitely quite a few improvements to be made in terms of control and how you interact with the environment. I'm new to game dev but I actually learned about Coyote Jump a couple days before the end of the jam; didn't quite get the chance to update it in time sadly!

Thanks for the feedback!

Absolutely fantastic entry.

Beautiful visuals, easy to understand controls, great illustration of the "hidden" state when you're near a tree. The difficulty from what I've seen so far has been quite well balanced. I also really enjoy the story and how simple choices can affect it. And the music... it's just lovely.

This is one that I'll come back to; it deserves a lot more than just a few minutes of play.

I usually try to give constructive feedback on these entries but I have no notes for this entry. Congratulations to you three on your great work!

Lovely drawings, animations and sounds, plus it was very easy to get started!

I lost pretty quickly on my first game, and enemies never showed up when the game restarted afterwards. But I reloaded the page, and managed to keep Olaf safe on my second attempt!

Once you identify and understand the two types of enemies, it gets pretty easy... but not so easy that I didn't have to focus - I was still alert and on edge for the entire ~60s game!

One thing I noticed is that the music stopped a little bit before I finished the game, so it would've been nice to extend it a bit or make it loop. But otherwise, it's a nice, simple and fun game!

Just closed the game ~ 20mins later, on wave 31 😅

It took me way too long to figure out you could do something other than drawing walls, but once I did... I had an absolute blast playing this game!

Original concept, fun fast-paced gameplay once you get started, simple but fitting graphics (loved that the elements change depending on how well you drew), nice background music.

There's definitely some balancing issues (as with any jam game), such as the cannons being way too strong for their cost (may just be balanced by not regening graphite while you draw the shapes?).

I also stumbled onto a pretty major bug once you hit those later waves where your health just starts regenerating faster than the enemies can make it drop, meaning you're essentially unkillable. The game is still running in the background as I write this and I'm currently on wave 22... and counting.  Just letting the enemies get to my home and die while my health drops to 99% and goes back up hehe.

Overall though, very fun game. Great job!

Once again, absolutely fantastic game!

I beat the game on my second run on normal difficulty. Experienced a few bugs here and there, such as:

  • Dice can't be played (sometimes happened for two dies in the same turn - and no, they were not caltrops!).
  • A dice sprite got stuck in the middle of the screen midway through the playthrough, and just stayed there until the very end. Wasn't clickable or making anything unclickable - just a small visual annoyance.

Other than that, this was absolutely fantastic. I'll probably play it again on other difficulties and using different builds - overall, really really well made, once again! Great job!
