Thanks for playing and giving feedback!

Difficulty settings and improved UI are definitely good suggestions.

And yes, I was quite satisfied with the « gore » once I added it in, I didn’t have it at first but it really does help a bit and makes the game better!

Thanks for playing & commenting!

The other bounty hunters have a random chance to « figure out » where the target is on the map without them being in their field of view, and also a (much more likely) random chance to « spot » the target when it’s in their field of view.

But I could’ve added a few difficulty settings to make it easier in your first handful of games while you’re still learning the map, because you really are at a disadvantage when you can’t quickly identify the various landmarks / arrangements. Perhaps I’ll do that after the jam :)

Absolutely loved the look & feel of it - aesthetically great game, and the music and sound effects were on point.

The unreadable font, as you already pointed out in your description, was the only real issue I spotted. Otherwise, the gameplay, UI and progression felt good to me! A bit on the difficult side, but good nonetheless!

Good job with the submission, especially as a solo dev!

Nice concept, beautiful art, cosy music... overall a very good submission!

The only note I have gameplay wise would be that the sneezing felt a bit intense - sometimes it was fine, but many times it felt like I could hardly play at all. I think a little bit less sneezing, or sneezing being caused by something the user can control a bit more, would make it a lot more fun. But that's just my opinion - looks like many others enjoyed it as is, so I might just be picky!

Such a nicely put together game! I have no notes - great submission ✨

I’m impressed you found the click & drag / touchscreen support, seeing as I hadn’t even mentioned it anywhere 😅

and yes, the remapping is faulty in some cases - I added it in a rush on the last day, having never done it before, and… well, something obviously went awry.

Thanks for playing & commenting! <3

Thanks for playing and commenting!

I was hoping to make the map bigger and a bit more fleshed out, ensuring there’s always some detail (even if it’s just a tiny one) that can differentiate one area from another, but… of course, time was an issue 😅

As for the other bounty hunters, they do have certain tiny advantages, but as you learn the map and discover a few « secret passages » within the game (where you can go through but not the bots), the advantage tips over to the player’s side.

Once again, thanks for playing! ✨

yay! Fantastic! That’s exactly what I was going for, I’m glad you figured it out and won!

Thank you for playing and for sharing your experience ✨

Update: I just tried the fullscreen version that synchr๏ shared, it made more sense there! I could see the bullets coming in ahead of time as expected, and when choosing "fight" I did get to see (and crush!) the big guy.

Good job on getting something up for your first game jam! :)

Ah, that's much clearer, and makes it a lot more fun! I played again a couple times - still feels like I "died" once when I shouldn't (did a first re-order that increased risk and "killed" me even if I had the perk that makes the first re-order of every round free). But thanks for the quick reply - t'was a lot better this time around!

Great game! Dragging on the edges of the screen was a bit difficult/impossible, but otherwise, everything was very fluid.

Mark is obviously overpowered, though! :p

I think I may have been expected to go inside some sort of maze, collect shurikens, fight enemies.... but all I actually did was go up, and then dash right a lot and suddenly I ran into a wall and was shown this victory screen 😅

I enjoyed the dialogue at the start but wished I could actually skip / go to the next line when I pressed "down". Instead I had to wait an unknown amount of time before "down" would actually do anything.

I tried again after the first "victory", and found that my shurikens weren't actually thrown when pressing "x", so I encountered enemies and ended up dying.

In any case, good job on shipping & submitting something for your first GWJ! :)

I managed to play... I think? It felt like the Google Chrome no-internet dinosaur game, but with always identical timing, and at some point I was asked to run or fight but I don't know what that was about 😅

But hey, you got something up & submitted, so that's a good start!

I played 4-5 games. The first two I... didn't realize you could really move and combine the cards at the bottom. I was... confused. But once I grasped that, it got a lot more fun, and I got closer to winning (although not by that much - I ended all subsequent games with 4 cards I couldn't play in my hand..!)

Which makes me wonder: is every game winnable if you play your cards right? Or is it randomized in a way that doesn't ensure a potential victory?

In any case, great submission. Loved the visuals, the sounds, and the game was really fun. Good job to you!

I quite liked it! I have a terrible memory, so it was very difficult for me, but I think the concept and the execution were good!

I'm not sure if there's ever an ending (I played until Day 10, and I was probably just too bad at it because the number of people with bounties started increasing again at some point), but I still enjoyed my time.

Oh, and I encountered a couple Null folks, too 😅

Exactly the kind of important detail you don't notice or think about when you're testing your own game - thanks for the feedback!

I did think of starting all of the other bounty hunters in the same area as the player, and letting them run wild afterwards, so the player would at least see that they're not alone right at the start. But... clearly it slipped my mind afterwards, because that didn't make it to the published release. I'll update that after the jam.

Thanks for playing & commenting :)

Loved it! My eyes are strained and tired, but I really enjoyed it.

Came across "I'm just an impersonator", which I thought was a pretty fun twist to what could otherwise be an irritating experience.

One "quick-win" in terms of UX would be to make the dialog box closable with a keybind (ex.: escape, or a click anywhere else on the screen).

In any case though, great submission! :)

I was afraid of venturing too far into the house... but I found raiding the garage and then leaving right away non-stop was pretty safe and lucrative! Played 2-3 games, and only got busted once 😎

Had one issue on my first run where I left the house while the flashing lights were up but before the police actually showed up, and it left me on a black screen after I tried to leave the house, never actually transitioning to Day 2. Didn't occur in other play-throughs though.

Good submission!

Definitely looks like a game I could enjoy - good music & sounds, nice visuals, interesting concept, and definitely on theme.

However... I don't know if I'm just slow today, but I couldn't figure out how the actual game is played 😅 I get the core concepts, but I was never quite sure the cards executed in the order I thought they would, and whether they had the intended effect or not. 2 out of my 3 games played ended after I finished my turn below 70% risk (one at 64%, don,t recall the other one), which... I'm not sure if it's a bug or if I misunderstood something.

I only went through three games, so maybe things would click if I kept at it. But that's been my new player experience so I figured it was worth pointing out.

Good submission overall though, props to the team! 🙌

Very fun and good looking game! I do see some potentially broken combos but haven't yet managed to actually pull one off.

Good job!

That was a lot of fun! Great job to the both of you!

Yes, some of them definitely require more patience and planning than others! And even more if you start combining multiple ones at once..!

Thank you for playing and for your comment :)

I really loved the look and feel of the game! The theme was slightly depressing, but that's obviously expected here. In the same vein, the gameplay was a bit slow for my taste, but it makes sense for the type of game.

I managed to make it out on my second go, and I enjoyed the experience.

Very nice and original submission - good job :)

No worries hehe, I still mark it as a win in my book! ✨

This was really well made. I spent way too much time on it, and everything worked flawlessly, until... my character disappeared and the game stopped responding to any controls as I was making my way back to the final door :(

This happened when I jumped into spikes after getting one of the "hidden" bonuses.

Still, it was a fantastic submission! Well done!

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it! :)

It does indeed lack a bit in terms of onboarding, I sadly didn't quite get to it time-wise before the jam ended.

I'll likely expand on it and/or build something in the same vein post-jam, so keep an eye on my itch.io profile in the upcoming... months and months and months 😂

That was fun! I kind of went speedrunning-mode on my first attempt and finished in 0:27 by abusing the left wall at the start, but did another go with what seems to be the expected path afterwards and it was quite challenging.

The controls and/or movement were a tiny bit finicky at times, but not enough to ruin the experience - I still had a good time playing it.

Overall, good submission!
Well done :)

Absolutely beautiful submission! Really well paced. Easy to grasp, but still difficult to win (well, I won on my first attempt, but I had 4s left so I think that was just beginner's luck!)

I also enjoyed all the easter eggs and the joke with the sign at the front.

Well done!

This was absolutely fantastic. Thank you for this beautiful game!

Nicely done! Fun gameplay - a bit stressful at times, but just enough!

I had a bit of trouble adjusting to the shooting early on (it seemed to shoot a tiny bit besides my actual cursor location), but overall everything worked very well and was quite intuitive.

Balancing the mining, shopping and search for other outposts between waves was quite challenging as time went on.

Good job on a great submission!

Thanks for the comment! Difficulty ramps up way too quickly indeed!

I also didn't get the time to add in the shop as I had planned; the original plan was to allow players to buy upgrades, such as "+1 max erasures" or "Gain +1 erasure per coin collected". Still happy I got this far in just a few evenings of work though!

That's exactly the feeling I was looking for! ✨

Great entry!

I liked the visual feel; like everyone else in here, I was stunned by the whiteboard animation effects.

Although I am no memelord myself, I did enjoy the classic memes making an appearance.

The only issues I had were:

  • Rotating items wasn't very intuitive (I only found out about this when reading the comments here, after playing through two attempts).
  • There's a lack of healing, which made nearly impossible to get further than 3-4 levels in my experience (or perhaps I was just unlucky with loot?).

Other than these two nits, which can very much be explained by the short duration of the jam, I think this was a very good game overall!

Great job to you for this submission :)

Yeah I should've spent a bit more time on level design to make the difficulty ramp up a little more smoothly; apparently my level design skills need a bit of improvement hehe!

Also, a fun fact since you mentioned erasing the floor: there's actually a level (I think level 4?) where erasing the floor actually gets you on a hidden floor below the regular floor, which allows you to bypass most of the level and get an extra coin!

Ahhh that definitely explains it! Thanks!

Very good submission!

It seems turn order is a really big indicator of who will win when you play against AI, but I guess that's just an inherent flaw of the core gameplay which can't really be fixed unless you add more random elements into it. In any case, for a game jam game, this isn't a game breaker at all - I still had lots of fun playing the game!

One thing I would suggest is improving the UI for the action buttons; I had a very hard time figuring out which action was selected at any given time, and often erased when I actually to move.

Overall though, a great entry, especially for a solo dev. Great job!

I painted a beautiful cat! I even (accidentally) left some rocks in the river! (oopsie, just noticed I also left the stencil in the final picture).

This was a nice, original, and calming entry! I liked the concept, and although the keybinds seemed a bit daunting at first, seeing them in the UI did make things a lot less complex than I had initially expected.

One small nitpick is that the eraser wasn't erasing in a very smooth fashion when moving the mouse quickly, but if you take your time it worked fine (which forces you to slow down and chill out a bit, which really isn't that bad after all!).

Overall, a nice entry - good job to you! :)

Very fun (and challenging!) concept. Trying to play this alone was tough - I kept losing track of which hand controlled which character - but that's definitely part of the game's charm and difficulty.

I really liked the style of the introduction - beautiful art! The background music was also nice!

I played on MacOS and had a few issues with the scaling:

I also had some issues with the controls at times, where a character would seemingly be blocked from going in a certain direction for a while, without any clear indications why (although that may just be me being bad).

The terrain was also a bit hard to read - some parts seemed to be elevated, but I wasn't clear which ones, and where to enter them from.

Overall though, I did enjoy the game! Good job to the three of you! :)

Lovely submission!

Navigating the packed rooms towards the end was getting tricky, but I did manage to clean up everything. I liked the art style and the music. Figuring out which tools do what was interesting in the beginning, and felt pretty intuitive.

I do feel like there's a little something missing to make this a bit more fun as it quickly got repetitive for me, but it is a 1-week jam gam after all, and I think this was a very good submission overall! Good job to the four of you!

P.S.
I did encounter a bug at some point where the screen turned gray and I couldn't do anything, other than press Esc and go back to the menu. But that didn't occur again in my second attempt, so I couldn't tell you what went wrong there.

(1 edit)

Well, at least I learned from my time in Zach Mode! Stopped at wave 18 because the difficulty had hit a plateau, but still a lot of fun! Definitely a much more challenging start without Zach Mode on 😅
