Not quite yet! But people have made some in the past so who knows!
Right now I wanna avoid making a character sheet in case things change between versions.
The goal is for this module to always be free forever, with no donation possible, if you wish to support my work I have other games on my page which are Pay What You Want.
Also, its called The Big City to help people set it wherever they want, having this name is there to help keep it vague and easy to follow up on it, and it reflects how people talk about it within the small rural town.
The full game will still be paid and have a higher price, but:
-It will be split into two, one player book and one GM book
-The player book will be free and the GM book will be paid
-Currently, my plan is to keep the playtest rules free to encourage more playtesting.
This price on the quickstart is more to give people a way to support me for my work and the commission work I paid for, so every sale helps me put more money towards the final product down the line.
Hi Folks! I've just released a Quickstart for my new TTRPG, Shirtless On A Rooftop (or SOAR for short).
You can find it here: https://eldjester.itch.io/shirtless-on-a-rooftop-quickstart-bad-evening

"In Little Portswell, Crime is in charge. The Police doesn't do anything, as always. Purple suits, the Willow Conglomerate, patrol the streets like they own the place, because they do. A single mother has just had her only son taken from her, you're her last hope. Ready your bat, your well polished shoes, your guns and your sword. Its time to bust heads for a good cause."
Is an intro to Shirtless On A Rooftop, is a TTRPG all about busting heads and talking feelings, it contains everything you need to run a 2 to 3 session long adventure, introducing your table to the world and mechanics of SOAR
SLASH of LIFE is SOAR's narrative engine, using a two step process to determine the success of actions: a d10 attempt roll to see if you even succeed, and a d6 pool success roll to see how well you succeed.
Turmoil represents your character's inner struggle between two values they care about, SOAR is as much a journey about bashing heads as it is a journey of discovering on which side of the scale you end up.
Each character in SOAR has access to a pool of individual tokens that enable you to do activate powerful effects in narrative, these are called Quirks. However, to gain Spotlight Tokens, you need to play into your Negative Quirks, aspects of your character that make them flawed people.
The Brawl is SOAR's tactical combat engine, much like SLASH of Life it uses a two step process: d10 to see if you hit your attack and d6 pool to see what damage profile your attack uses.
In SOAR, forced movement is important, combat and grid maps are designed to encourage people to take advantage of the high ground, push people into objects or even through windows to deal additional damage.
Abilities and attacks are designed with the explicit purpose of being quick to resolve, top to bottom and applying effects in order, SOAR combat is fast once you get used to it, meaning you have more room for more combat.
With advice on how to play them, you only need to name them.
They own an office, its small, its cramped, but its home, they have a good eye and can reconstruct how a given scene went down, on top of that their assistant can help them with anything legal, unfortunately, they are cursed with bad luck. In a fight, they use their kicks to push people through windows, into trashcans and into their allies.
An enforcer for the Tiger Mafia, they are passionate, strong, but ultimately kind and truly wish to help people, even if it sometimes goes against their oath. In a fight, they wield a baseball bat, turning enemies into improvised projectiles and dealing a ton of damage.
A wandering sword wielder, defined by the scars on their back, they have been through a lot, many people rely on their skill, their dedication to the craft is inspiring, however they struggle with opening up to people. In a fight, their sword stance allows them to move as fast as the wind, slashing multiple people and closing the distance in the blink of an eye.
An Ex [REDACTED], they know what its like to be hunted down, doing the right thing is never easy and the people in power always hate it, so they've learned the best ambush spots around the city. In a fight, they use two guns and close quarter techniques to flow from target to target, constantly keeping their gun ready to shoot the next person after a grapple.
SOAR: Bad Evening features many more things in its pages, including but not limited to:
Punchers, couch wielder, people with knives...
There's even a multiphase boss in here!

An adventure with everything provided for the GM: Maps, NPC Stats, scene flow and advice on how to run SOAR sprinkled throughout!

From so many talented artists who helped make this game a reality through evocative characters and dynamic poses: SpicyBC, SkyCrimes, GForce, Magnus, Javiroque, AL and Lyreon!
Hi! Thanks for taking the time to read it, I wanted to respond to some of the questions!
Rowbury has some tourism, it is currently a stop point on the way to The Big City for a few folks, it isn't really enough to make both of those shops live comfortably but it does push them both to stay open late since they are essentially owned by the only people who work there, having lived in a small town that is an unfortunately common practice just in case there's one or two people showing up to buy something.
The Mayor gets killed second because the SIN doesn't think that far ahead, the first kill was to make the mayor hurt, the second kill is the mayor herself as a sort of "finale" for the HOUND, but Sins being creatures of emotions, it isn't enough, and eventually the grudge extends past that.
The Highway is actually passing nearby to the town, rather than directly to it, it just happens to be linked to it if it ever gets completed.
The Mayor had the argument outside of her office because she needed to work things out quietly and unofficially, and word gets around
The Hound is massive, and tall, the saw being in the middle of its torso as well as its long arms means it can easily swing and lift people.
For the pressure table, I call out the point where people actively look for their guns, carry them around and might feel twitchy enough to actually shoot someone if things feel off.
Thank you for the impressions!
Hey Tom! Some Feedback on the pdf reading:
-Even after the update, some of the credit cards effects are a bit hard to read on my end (the "cut in the card" letters that play on the transparency of the layer).
-The double spread is very nice, and I approve of it, it helps make the book pop a lot more, it introduces a problem with the page count where the pdf readers don't match the actual pages they're on (since functionally every page is 2 pages, but the pdf reader counts them as 1 page).
