For Magic Runes, the only limitation is that you cannot select abilities from the SotS classes (Sage, Magus, Champion, Servant). All other class abilities are fine!
Abilities such as Martial Art and Phantom Strike allow your limbs to be considered weapons, so they are valid choices to gain a tag at character creation.

Hello! I've put up a sale so that people who own the core game and all three expansions already can buy this at a heavy discount. Additional to having all of the past content, you'll find:
- example kingdoms with sample item shops and unique enemies
- half a dozen sample heroes with art
- around 30 new enemies unique to the definitive edition
Hi there! The print omnibus is funding on Kickstarter right now, if you're interested:

Hi again! Since you asked about the physical copies, here is a link to the Kickstarter for print copies of the game:

Thanks for your questions!
1) The spirit acts on its own like a summon and does not take the player’s action.
2) The spirit always stays in Close range of the player character. The Spirit Allies from the Mastery ability can move around though!
3) If the rules say that something “counts as a weapon”, it can have tags added to it unless otherwise stated (like for the Brawler’s Martial Art). Phantom Strike can have tags added, and any weapons wielded by summons can have tags added.
Merry Christmas!
1) I will be running a Kickstarter for a physical release containing the core rulebook and all three current expansions. Everyone who has downloaded the game will get an email through itch about it in January so please look out for it!
2) There will be a free update soon with some rules updates and some more depth to the magic system (with new Tomes and rules for ritual casting). There are no planned full expansions at this point while the Kickstarter is the priority.
1) You need to receive a HP drop that round for Healing Aura to activate, while White Magic does not have that requirement. If your party is struggling to kill enemies or is getting bad rolls, White Magic is more useful.
2) Give them a dragon! No, seriously. 10 whole SP drops (which only occur randomly) is a pretty big investment, so you can be generous with this.
Good question! My intent was for it to be the latter - that player will definitely level super quickly, but they will probably run out of things to upgrade unless they’re going and taking on new classes. In other words, it should prompt them to go out and do extra class quests to make full use of their Gift!
