We’re not game developers — we’re just one musician and one 3D artist. Everything we did in the game followed the principle of “let’s see if this works.” This was only the second jam we joined just for fun, so there really wasn’t any time left for optimization in the end.

Technically, the graphics settings should have worked — but they didn’t, and I couldn’t figure out why. So we weren’t able to improve performance. The game was mainly intended for mid-range (tested on both with high FPS and no stutter) and high-end PCs. If we had known someone would play it on a lower-end system, we would have scaled it down accordingly.

I completely understand that it might feel like “too much” for a game jam, but since we never participated with the intention of winning, I honestly didn’t care too much about whether it ran smoothly for everyone or not.

I also refused to make the exact same kind of game as everyone else. We wanted it to be “more complex” and visually appealing. The “complex” part didn’t quite work out — but at least the visuals did, lol.

Ich hatte überlegt noch ein paar Jumpscares einzubauen, da wir beide aber so gut wie keine Ahnung hatten wie irgendwas funktioniert waren wir froh, dass das Projekt wenigstens gestartet ist ohne kaputt zu gehen :D

Ist mir aufgefallen, dass es etwas verwirrend ist, aber dafür wissen wir es nächstes mal!

Die erste Note ist sehr nah am Spawn. Sehr nah. 

Ja das mit den Ducklings hab ich nicht ganz verstanden und habe den Fehler nicht gefunden und dann hatte ich zum Ende hin um ehrlich zu sein auch keine Lust mehr.

Das mit Escape ist gut zu wissen!

"It Grows" is a simple horror game created for the Manasoup Gamejam 4 by Ducknetic and KiraBeta (Victoria). Developed using Unreal Engine 5.4.4, the game features assets like Black ForestUltra VolumetricsUltra Dynamic Sky, and Cave Ruins to build parts of its environment. The soundtrack was made with FL Studio 21 and Native Instruments Kontakt, using instruments from Spitfire Libraries.

The game follows the theme "Let it grow", where the character’s fear increases with each level, adding to the rising tension as the environment evolves.

Optional: Collect 9 Ducklings scattered throughout the levels for an extra challenge. We are both beginners and have never worked together before. "Ducky" has never made any games, except for a few "throwaway" projects. We had more ideas but were unable to implement them due to our lack of experience and knowledge.
