I've updated cavalry to be a little more helpful along with a few other quality of life changes. I've given them a rifle to pick off far away enemies along with contact damage.
In my new update I've added a little panel to better control your soldiers along with a few other things. You can switch modes after you've blown the whistle to stop them in the next trench they go to. :)
I agree! It would be nice to be able to control the forward assaults a little more. I'll probably work on this feature a bit more.
The cavalry seems to be a bug on your end. If you email me some screenshots and some information about how you were playing the game I can try to fix the issue.
