It looks like this is mirroring the Patreon level at which this is available.  I suspect that when it becomes available to the lowest tier Patreon supporters, it will be free here as well

PeaZip (a GUI program) on Linux works nicely for me.  I seem to recall that there are known issues with the standard Linux unzip that do not handle zip files over 4GB very well.  Since much of the code for unzip dates back to when 4GB drives were large and 64-bit systems were mostly high end systems, this is not a huge surprise.

I, too, would love to see high quality updates more often and still free on this, but there's a mantra I've seen:
Good, Fast, Cheap - pick two.  You can't have all three.

More people donating on Patreon to provide a steady income instead of a traditional full-time job or supplemental work could help the developers to have more time to work on updates.
