LightTreeFM – Big Update Released
Hi everyone,
I’ve just released a major update for LightTreeFM, my modern file manager for AmigaOS.

LightTreeFM is designed to bring a more comfortable and visual way of browsing files on classic Amiga systems, while still respecting the look and limitations of the original Workbench environment.
This update adds several important features, including:
- Virtual tree browsing inside LHA archives and ADF disk images
- Selective extraction by drag and drop: expand an archive or ADF in the tree, choose only the files or folders you need, and drag them out
- Spring-loaded folders during drag and drop
- Improved file browsing and navigation
- A cleaner and more polished interface
- Better handling of archive contents and disk images
- Various fixes and refinements
The most interesting part, in my opinion, is that archives and ADFs are no longer treated as simple files: you can explore them directly in the tree, as if they were part of the filesystem, and extract only what you actually need.
LightTreeFM is still a personal project, developed with a lot of passion for the Amiga and its unique way of working. Feedback, bug reports, suggestions, and real-hardware testing are very welcome.

Thanks to everyone who follows the project and supports Amiga development.
Hello everyone,
I’ve just released an updated working prototype of LightTreeFM, a modern file manager for AmigaOS 3.1 / 020+, written in ANSI C / C89 using native AmigaOS libraries.
https://dsavioni.itch.io/lighttreefm
LightTreeFM moves away from the classic dual-panel file manager layout and experiments with a more modern tree + file view approach, bringing copy & paste-style file management and drag & drop interaction to AmigaOS.
Current features include:
- Directory tree navigation
- File view with sorting by name, size and type
- Copy, delete and file management operations
- Drag & drop support
- Spring-loaded folders during drag & drop
- Virtual browsing of LHA, ZIP and ADF contents directly inside the tree
- Selective extraction from archives and ADF files via drag & drop
- ADF creation and writing tools
- Floppy format and checkdisk tools
- Basic image viewer
- Integrated MOD player
- File type associations and preferred applications management
- AmigaGuide help
- About screen with a rotating wireframe cube, because obviously that was necessary
Tested mainly on 68K, 020+ Amigas and PiStorm systems.
Feedback, bug reports, feature requests and Amiga nostalgia are very welcome.
