Hey everyone!
I’m incredibly excited (and a little nervous) to announce the first public demo of my passion project, The Brightest Neon - Semitone Resonance. This is my very first visual novel, built with Ren’Py, and it’s been a long journey to get to this point. I’ve been pouring my heart and soul into this story, and I’d be honored if you gave it a look!
What is Semitone Resonance?
At its core, this is a story about a clash of worlds. It’s a dark sci-fi narrative where the cold, hard pragmatism of science collides with the chaotic, terrifying aesthetics of insane art.
In a world slowly being consumed by a mysterious, city-devouring Fog, you play as Dr. Neon, a brilliant astrophysicist trying to apply the laws of science to a reality that has begun to live by the laws of madness.
The story will take you through several genres, from a psychological thriller and noir detective story to space opera (Sci-fi adventure) and mystical horror. It’s a slow-burn narrative focused on deep characters and the tragic things that happen to them.
Meet the Protagonist
Dr. Neon is a brilliant scientist whose obsession with her work has always been her only refuge from the “background noise” of the outside world.
When an act of betrayal destroys her life, she finds herself dragged into an underground world of anomalous phenomena and people who call themselves “doctors.”
Haunted by ghosts of a past she cannot remember, Neon must understand why she is so drawn to the stars, the silence of space, and the strange, quiet power that lurks in her own soul.
Demo Status & What to Expect
The current demo is in progress and includes the first three chapters of the story:
* Chapter 1: The Blue Sheep
* Chapter 2: In Search of a Friend
* Chapter 3: Escapism
This offers approximately 3 hours of gameplay (about an hour per chapter).
The story is mostly kinetic for now, but there are interactive puzzle sections in Chapter 3 to give you a taste of what’s to come!
