Polytopia was the game that made me believe I could actually build something simple, elegant, and strategic on my own. So, I’m excited to share Cosmopolis 4X, a compact space-themed strategy! For a long time I had half-prototypes scattered across Godot, HTML/CSS, and Python, but I never had the time or skillset to turn them into something cohesive. With some AI-assisted tooling helping me bridge the development gap, I finally started fitting all these old ideas together. 😊
Another big influence (in spirit) is Stellaris—my favorite game I’ve almost never played. I always loved the concept of deep empire building, but never had the time for multi-hour sessions. Cosmopolis is my attempt at capturing strategic choices and interesting map states without requiring long campaigns. It’s meant to be a short-form 4X you can play in quick bursts and revisit on the go.
What the game offers right now:
-
Explore a procedurally generated star map
-
Capture worlds and level their resources
-
Navigate dynamic terrain: nebulae, asteroid fields, wormholes, anomalies
-
Use specialized units like Science Vessels, Scouts, Cloak Ships, and more
-
Exploit Fog-of-War for tactical decision making
-
Engage in fast, turn-based skirmishes with evolving strategic arcs
I’m adding to Cosmopolis piece by piece, testing new systems, and tuning balance as I go. The core idea is to create a compact but meaningful strategic sandbox that is easy to understand, hard to master, and always a little unpredictable.
If you try it out, I’d love to hear your thoughts. This is my first real push from “idea fragments” to an actual playable game, and I’m excited to keep shaping it with feedback. 🚀
