Wow congrats man!! Honestly, polish was probably going to be the hardest element to deliver on, so I don't think you should be too hard on yourself for that

Seeing my ranking was dispiriting and this cheered me up to read thank you so much 😭😭

Yeah mine ranked pretty poorly, as I'm fairly sure that Castlevania fans probably would have liked it if they managed to get to it, but this was such a huge jam so discoverability was inevitably going to be an issue for people who are solo and can't really afford to spend much time outside of their non-dev jobs. I would have loved to have sat down and streamed game jam games in the Discord server, but again, I actually just didn't have the time to engage enough with Juniper Dev's community to even remotely make a dent in the ratings.

Thank you!! It was hard to make brass-looking enemies that were an aesthetic match without them blending into the environment, and I hoped that making them flail and animate would make them a little more visible. The jumping was intentionally like that, as I had aimed to evoke Castlevania's jumping system, and I didn't do any coyote time because I was trying to keep the verisimilitude of the NES style presentation, as not many platformers of that era had that.  Thank you so much for playing!! I hoped you enjoyed your time with it~

You're welcome! I'd love to see this get fleshed out more with a full title!!

Cute!!

How in the WORLD was this made in a week?! Great job!!

My only complaints would be that I wish there was more of a painting feature when it comes to the gears like the ability to hold down the left mouse button and auto-place them, and that I wish it were a little longer, otherwise, this was very fun and very cute!!  I could see myself playing way too many levels of this for way too long hahaha

Sure did!!

Oh thank you so much!! A lot of the play-testing and balancing was done with a controller, so bear that in mind 😅

(Don't worry, friend! The full title will eventually come out~)

Awww! Thank you so much!

Mythic Prelude is an upcoming Action-Adventure title inspired by the SNES era such as Terranigma, Illusion of Gaia, and The Legend of Zelda! It is my honor to share the free demo with the itch community in preparation for the launch of our Kickstarter campaign on the 14th! I hope those of you who download and play it enjoy it!

One of the goals of the demo was that it has to function as a stand-alone title, so the primary loop and plot have been polished to the sharpest edge possible for a simple demo.

You play as Simon Gram, a boy in blue who awakens in an unfamiliar place. All he finds is a sword and a talking raven, join him and survive the dark and storming night!

Mini-bosses designed in mind with the aim of blending plot and game-play together as the mysteries of tonight unravel!

Fight through the night and experience fast-paced intricate bosses inspired by bullet hell shooters!

Made with Gamemaker Studio 2.

The raven is just dying to meet you!
