thanks for the quick reply! makes sense! will continue to come down to how each GM views it i think, but was curious to see what the thoughts on your end were for those. it being based off of the eidolon turn structure makes a lot of sense!

heya!
myself and a fair number of other GMs run this on a Westmarches server we're a part of--the new NPCs, templates, and sit reps are all a nice addition to the variety of games!
however, there is a small discussion about the intent behind the Super template's Unflinching Gauntlet. that is, is it intended to get less activations against 5 players than a standard Ultra would?
as a bit more of an edge case, though the wording is identical to Ultra there was a question raised about additional activations against drone-mechs, as drones technically count as characters. would a hydra deploying 4 drones give the Super two additional activations?
whatever the answers, thanks for the supplement! it's great content, and most especially for the price
hiya!
so i will preface in saying i haven't played LT since the prototype (i'm waiting for it to be closer to completion myself) and i did not back it back when. all the same!
i generally trend more in favour of sticking closer to the core NPCs, as i believe that errs closer to the original intent for the successful kickstarter in focusing on core content. on a personal level i am also more interested in the core content being adapted than homebrew (even good homebrew!), and though Kai Tave has done a lot of good work on first party material and has a lot of experience in honing from playtesting, it does still fall under that umbrella and at least to myself, feels that way in some regards even if i find some of the changes solid or fun in their own right. to be clear, my opinions on the rebake do remain mixed but favourable, though i've mostly read them and only played with them a handful of times, so maybe my opinion will shift one way or the other going forward.
i do think your reasoning is sound in it's own right too, so if it is ultimately decided to go that direction because you think it will make for a better balanced game, i'll still definitely play it! just wanted to weigh in from my own angle.
on that note, i figure below you mean you'll be meeting to discuss what is currently available, but all the same, i'd ask more than a week to collate from the responses to this potential change (if ya aren't already!) as it is a significant one and people do have busy lives (especially with finals going on for lots of folks!)
in any case, i look forward to following future developments and playing a lot when it is closer to completion!
This has shaped up to be a fun little story so far! While gain aint quite my thing per se, the progressive shift in design, and over all attractive plus sized characters were all the same really nice. All around, nicely written and illustrated in general. Also, for me at least, very pleasing to have a female protagonist in this genre and jam! Thank you for everyone involved for their effort on this, and do hope to see more development for it going forward--but even if not, was a nice little VN to relax with this evening.
Just wanted to chime in to say that I also really appreciate this sentiment and the overall tact you took in writing her; modern vernacular on the matter wouldn't feel appropriate, but era-specific ideas and terms about it also wouldn't be right either for any number of reasons. In taking your own line and founding her circumstances in the lore of your setting, you managed to make that part of her story very impactful for her life, while it is not at all heavy-handed; she's well assured of who she is, while all the same dealing with a lot of complex feelings about the impact the matter may have had on her family. 'This is just how Marina is', it's just one facet of her character and a personal one, and I appreciate that approach to writing such a character immensely.
Ahem, anyway! I just finished my first ending of the game last night (as Marina), and wanted to come here to say something in thanks, at least. I've managed to spread the festivities to a few good friends of mine too who are enjoying their time with the game a lot as well, currently. Thanks so much for your work on this, and I hope your future works are fulfilling for you whatever they happen to be in!
As one final aside, though... I am still very much in the process of exploring the game, but I do just have to ask (and needless to say you are under no obligation to answer!), is there actually some information if not closure as to what happened with Marina's mother currently present in the game? I have yet to find anything, and I'm wondering if I missed it, or if it was more just implied by other events, or the like, since that was part of her opening motivation. Just something that's been gnawing at me!
I will try to avoid spoilers in so saying, but the boss you're referring to is not dysphoria, it's Dysmorphia, which is a reference to a different condition. Its name and imagery more than likely have everything to do with what the character more directly related to it is going through, instead--and you can fight it as any character, as far as I'm aware.
Not trying to dismiss the concept mentioned above, mind you, as I think Marina *at least* touches on some themes along those lines (if she is not outright intended to be a transfeminine person under this setting's dark-magic-fueled strangereal logic); the author is very thoughtful about the themes he explores, and such things are not done without intent, in my opinion.
Simply, I want to get the details straight on said boss fight, and to not wholely brush aside the character related to it... different though said character may be, I get the sensation there's more going on there than the story currently presents.
