Thanks for releasing this on Itch as well!

Thanks both for the quick response and for bringing the game here! :)

Quick question: Will PfF: Gold and Sand be purchasable on Itch for those of us who can't get it on Steam?

Just a heads-up: When I try to access the game's page on the Itch app at the moment, I get a blank screen with no purchase option. All I can do is install the demo, though the page loads normally in Chrome (and the purchase option is there).

Maybe this only affects me for some reason, but I thought I should mention it in case this may prevent other Itch app users from purchasing the game. Maybe ask some Itch app users on you Discord to test if this affects everyone using the app?

Thanks for clarifying number 1, but your answer to number 2 seems to be either an unfortunate typo or a convoluted way of saying there may be censorship for future content :D

I saw that the game is available on Steam as well, so I'm currently trying to decide which store to get the game on. Could you perhaps clarify two things for me?

1. Are you planning to update the game on Itch as regularly as on Steam or is this going to be a situation where Steam is the "lead platform" and the Itch version might be lagging behind?

2. Did you have to censor any of the content for the Steam release? Seems to me some of the current/planned content might have some of Steam's censors raising their eyebrows.

I'm sure you've already thought about the option of releasing cut-down SFW versions of your (current and future) game(s) on Steam and hosting a "content restoration patch" on a third-party site? Seems to work for a lot of devs and Steam gladly turns a blind eye as long as you're not too obvious about the patch.

I'm not sure whether that option is still on the table for MIST, though. I've seen a handful of games that got rejected by Steam, tried to get onto the platform again as a SFW version and then got shot down again. Seems they're wary of you if your game has already been rejected once.

Steam basically went from not accepting any NSFW content to allowing all NSFW content, to allowing NSFW content but imposing a couple of very strict guidelines. That's why Evenicle got accepted back in the day, but Evenicle 2 wasn't now.

C'mon Joe, the dev's gotta eat and we all know this game is well worth the money.

Hey, just wanted to give my condolences for not being able to get the game on Steam.

The fact that Steam put the kibosh on the release while Patreon doesn't seem to have any problem with it kinda tells the same story I've been hearing from a lot of developers: Whether you can get a NSFW game on Steam REALLY depends on which curator gets assigned to interpret the rules in your individual case. For example, I know that Monolith Bay (also on Itch) has tried to get on Steam multiple times, and failed - and with that game's content, I see even less of a potential conflict with Steam's NSFW rules.

There's also the issue of Steam curators being willing to work closely with bigger developers to get their game conforming to Steam rules while smaller developers just get told outright that their game is banned. So while it's probably a massive let-down for you, perhaps you can take some comfort in the fact that you're in good company, at least.

Anyways, if you're looking for additional (mainstream) stores to sell the game on, I'd suggest trying GOG. They can be hard to work with sometimes, but they've opened up to adult games recently and from what I'm hearing, they're way more open to all kinds of content.

Thanks for clarifying. You just got yourself a customer. Keep up the good work! :D

I'm thinking of buying the spicy version. Though before I do, I was wondering: If I buy the game now, will I get access to all further updates or do I have to buy each new release separately?

And will the game be properly updated on Itch? I know some devs use Itch for pre-release versions and only release/update the full version on Steam...

I'm assuming you're using the Itch client. Unfortunately, the client can't download and install files from third-party file hosters. You'll need to log into your Itch account via a web browser and download the zip file with the game manually. Then unpack it wherever you want and start the game from there.

Wish you all the best for getting through Steam's curation process!

That being said, will the final release be available for purchase on Itch as well, or will it be Steam only?

I think the game might have a slight issue with registering your button press (or maybe I'm just too slow) either slightly delayed (after the arrow has already moved out of the target area), or maybe it registers the "de-press" instead. Point is: I could swear I sometimes pressed the button right when the arrow was in the target area and the fishing scene resolved itself with the arrow having already moved outside of the target area.

In case there actually is an issue with the game registering the button press too late, you should aim to press the button as soon as the arrow enters the target area, maybe even try pressing the button shortly before that, see if it helps.

But if you can't do it, don't worry: There are only one or two situations where the game requires you to catch a fish and outside of that, you can just gather mushrooms instead, you won't miss out on anything by ignoring the fishing option.

Don't worry, the game is still being developed. You can find info on the current development progress for 0.6 on the Patreon (publicly available).

Also, version 0.5 was released in September 2021, I think, so it's been about five months, with holidays and the plague and everything...

IIRC, I got a bit confused at that point as well. I may be misremembering this, but I think the issue is that the option to bang the pots shows up at the lake - but NOT the lake area with the fishing spot. Enter the forest, go to the left and pass the small log cabin. Then, at the screen where you have to turn left to reach the small bridge you had to repair, move forward instead and you should come to a small lake area.

Sorry, I had tried not to spoiler anything and I thought just that one comment shouldn't spoiler too much while being helpful to new players, but I see your point. I've deleted the paragraph.

Just finished 0.8 and I gotta say: Mist gripped me from the very start and it never let go! I love the mysterious atmosphere (the exploration bits gave me genuine Roadside Picknick/Stalker vibes) and the story is engaging, surprisingly elaborate, well-paced and well thought-out (aside from the deliberately handwave-y cabin upgrading).

You can also feel the raw effort and talent that went into the game - everything is meticulously crafted, from the beautiful and consistent art style to the massive amounts of animations, the engaging music choices and the gameplay design. Also, I didn't run into a single bug over 21 hours of gameplay! Admittedly, there are a couple of typos (mixing up "it's" and "its" constantly) and it did bother me a tiny bit that everyone in the game says "I am", instead of "I'm", but I'm really grasping for straws here to find something to criticise :D

The game is rather linear and not very challenging, which might not be to everyone's tastes, but I think this works really well for a story-focused game. This way, you won't have to worry about making "wrong" choices and both the combat and survival elements give you enough of a challenge to make them interesting, without becoming frustratingly hard at any point.

All in all: straight-up 5 out of 5 and well worth shooting the devs some money for their amazing work!

After going with Mia to gather stones at the lake, there should be a new "spend the evening" option for Robin ("Event 10"). Do that and then use Robin's "raise morale" option during daytime to find the new option which will unlock that scene.

No worries, I missed those for quite a while as well, mostly because I was convinced I'd have to interact with the big stack of logs at some point.

There should be three small logs (not the big stack) directly in front of the woodcutter's lodge, to the right of the bush. Can you interact with those?

Played this on Steam and it's a really great game. Hope it'll be available DRM-free on Itch or GOG at some point, though.

Great to hear that! The game is amazing, so it'd be a shame to see content disappear just because it's a "one-time event".

Many devs these days use version numbering systems which don't actually count up from 0.1 to 1.0 - I've seen loads of games go from 0.1 to 0.9 and then continue 0.10, 0.11 etc. I'm guessing it's the same for this game.

To anyone who's hesitant to try WaL because it's not finished: The game might not be 50% done, but what's there right now is awesome (and free)! The art is amazing, the characters are really likeable and the script genuinely made me laugh out loud a bunch of times. So don't let the version number hold you back from trying this.

Haven't played this in a while so I was surprised to find that the New Years Event content is no longer in the game. Will it be back at some point or is it gone for good?

And will the final release of the game include the special event content? Would feel kinda weird to create all this great stuff just for specific pre-1.0 versions...

Hey, no need to apologize, you couldn't have known :) And I'm sorry if my last post maybe came off a bit too aggressive, I just wanted to get the point across as a warning for both devs and gamers to not rely (solely) on Steam.

Technically, my distrust in Steam stems from the fact that they implemented a region lock on all AO games in my country (completely out of the blue), which is not only not required by my country's laws but might even indirectly violate free market laws in my region. So when you say Steam has become a more adult-friendly place, you're probably right, but you should also be aware that Steam can and will pull that rug from under you if they ever feel it's the easiest option for them to avoid controversy.

You do have a point about AO games rarely being fully removed from Steam anymore, though. I guess unless Ravager gets some kind of content added during the EA period which directly violates Steam's rules, it's probably not at risk of being removed. Let's hope for the best so at least other people get to enjoy the full game :)

Thank you very much for clarifying. I guess for the time being, I'll just hope the game might eventually return to Itch, then. Going through SubscribeStar would require several more steps and I'd end up with a key which I'm not 100% sure would even work in my Steam region (unfortunately, Steam is not forthcoming with information about how the region lock works - and they could change the way it works at any time, as we've seen back when the region lock was first implemented). And ultimately, I don't fully trust Steam to not completely remove the game at some point anyways (which does still happen from time to time).

For people looking into getting a key directly from you: Could you maybe say something about whether Patreon subscribers can still get keys? I think people looking for a one-time "subscription" just to get around Steam's dumb policies might be more inclined to use Patreon since they can use PayPal there - but as I understand it, you're having trouble with Patreon at the moment. So is it safe to assume you can still get keys there or should people looking for keys go directly to SubscribeStar?

So am I understanding this recent dev update about the Steam version correctly that the full version of Ravager will NEVER be available for purchase on Itch.io?

I'm asking because the game is region locked for me (and many others) on Steam and given how good the devs were about offering and updating the game here, I expected it to eventually be sold here as well. Always a big disappointment when devs use Itch only during the development phase and then migrate to Steam-exclusivity :(

Damn you guys are fast - which is also what she said, incidentally...

Anyways, you should probably send out an update and/or post something in the development log so your followers know that they have two weeks left to get the bundle.

Glad I bought PomH and Elewder when Paypal was still an option. But now I can't get this one at all, unfortunately. And probably none of your future games either. No credit card for Itch and Steam region locks the game for me.

Would be really cool if you would consider adding the game to some bundle with another developer at some point. This has allowed some creators banned by Paypal to get their games to Paypal users in the past.
