I just wanted to thank everyone who is participating in this jam, very much looking forward to seeing what is created!

We took all the information we learned from hosting our first event in mind when creating this new event, Jam for Democracy!

Instead of a longer event, we are doing a 3 day jam starting on a Friday and ending Sunday night.

We launched it earlier to allow more time to advertise the jam. And because its less than a month long, it will be now be seen on the itch jam calendar.

Instead of having a very general theme, we made it much more specific.

We decided that offering a cash prize was not the way to go, it did not increase participation or project submissions. And maybe makes things more competitive in a way that can take the casual fun of jamming down a notch.  So in short, no prizes, just the accolades one would get from the community for creating something awesome, but more importantly the rewarding feeling you get for making something your proud of.

Here is the link to the new jam, its starts October 15th:  https://itch.io/jam/jam-for-democracy

Sounds great.  And you don't have to join the discord to communicate what you would like to do in regards to the prize money. You can also send an email to: info@devthesolution.org

Thanks to everyone who participated in this game jam regardless of submitting a project. We appreciate your interest and support. We learned a lot from this jam and as a result will be doing things somewhat differently in the future.

Since we are still dealing with the technical difficulties of the voting system (we still have not heard back from the support team), we decided that it would be best to provide our own solution. Out of the 4 projects submitted, only 3 are eligible for a prize. Since the 3 projects did not meet our expectations for providing a Solution, we wanted to offer a participation/consolation prize of $50 to each individual. Please contact Dan through the discord to arrange a payment option.

Thanks again, this event helped us to figure out what is needed for us to further our mission statement more effectively.

There is some sort of itch.io error preventing anyone from voting at this time.  I contacted support to notify them of the issue. We will post on this as soon as we hear back.

I did just try to rate a project, and yes you are correct. There definitely is some kind of error occurring. I will look into the matter and contact itchio support if necessary. When I try to leave the review it says what you see below despite that criteria being marked:

Please check the information you provided

  • no score for Relevance to Theme [How well the Problem and Solution is Communicated]

Not sure why that is the case, it looks like I can vote. It does say your not supposed to ask friends to vote in this competition to make things more fair.

I'm unsure why you would not be able to vote for anyone. The voting is open to the public as long as you have an itch.io account. It might be set so that participants cannot vote, to prevent them from voting for themselves, that type of thing.

Thank you!

Your game page is good, asking for donations is alright to do.

You don't need to do anything other than not charge money for the game. At least for the needs of this game jam. Beyond this game jam, I'm not sure what the official standard is for CC licenses, but it looks as though stating it somewhere (website, within the game, etc.) is sufficient.

We have two days/48 hours to go till the deadline of our first game jam event.

Hey everyone, hope your all doing well. There is just less than one week to go for this jam.  With this being the last full weekend to get some work in.  The DEV The Solution team and community is looking forward to seeing all your games/projects.  Thanks again!

Absolutely!

We have reached the halfway mark for our first game jam.  There is still plenty of time to start and or finish your project by the September 17th deadline. We are all very excited to see what everyone creates, a big thank you to all the jammers participating in this event!
