Alright, thanks everyone! I made some post-jam preparations. Giving myself two months after the jam to make it happen. Fingers crossed
Are those supposed to be the clips for javid's video or it's just a collection of everyone's gameplays?
- If it's for the video, javid said the clips have to be around 20-30s, no music if possible, so he doesn't need to verify the source, even if you use CC0 resources (avoiding potential dmca strikes), unless you own them or you are the creator and give him the permission to use your content. It should be something in a form of a trailer: title screen, interesting gameplay or something you want to show off
- if it's a collection of videos from this jam, you can make a list of links in your main post in a format like:
- Smell The Air by Dreamer - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rkkNI_jJuj8
- [game] by [user] - [video] etc
Thanks, I'm aware of the style differences, I used assets from other games I have scrapped, these are just temporary assets for the jam, they will be changed to pixel art after the rating period is over. The only asset that I made specifically for this jam was actually the bird.
About the panic atmosphere, when you are trying to focus on killing the birds as fast as you can and you have 5-7 seconds until they start pooping, the game starts being really stressful when you reach the maximum speed (500 kills) and you are playing on Hardcore mode - the birds appear, you miss them once, twice, then you can't keep track of which bird appeared first. I think that turned out really great.
I made the bird's spritesheet by looking at the reference to not just copy someone's work.
Here's the comparison, my first spritesheet drawing attempt https://i.imgur.com/WsNv8xu.gifv
The reference on the left is really smooth, mine doesn't look that great, the legs are totally messed up, but I think it's fine for the first try, I really rushed this one. Looks more like a penguin. I hope my next attempt will be way better. Thanks for the comment!
That's a nice and relaxing time-killer. Something different after spending a lot of time on minecraft farms :D I'm a bit sad there was no time to add the music. I assume there's a plot twist, the enemies actually want a hug, they don't want to fight, that's too cute! The doggo too!
Sadly, lost my progress, the game just froze while picking carrots =[
Knight: Pause, please!
You: Don't tell me what to do!
This is great, I like the art. You know what? Looking at the art style I think you might try to change everything to look as it was drawn on paper, that's the feel I kinda got from the first impression. Yes, there were some inaccuracies, not a big deal, though. The slash indicator image was missing sometimes (layer problems I guess).
This is really cool. At first I thought you have to type your name, took a moment to realize that you have to move with the commands.
The sounds are too loud IMO, but it's fine. I expected a RUN command or FASTER, the character is a bit too slow. I also liked when the grass sarted to move while walking through it.
It would also be great with complex levels! :D
It's nice, but as already mentioned, it's more about trying to get the food. It takes a decent amount of tries, getting a little tough when the virus starts to replicate.
I like the idea, but I think the spawn rate is too low - I know the rates are lower over time, but I had almost no spawns on the 7th level, so it was really hard, but I liked it :D
I agree, that's why I added "Hardcore" mode where it's more likely to end the game faster, but actually, after spending enough time in the game, my single play extended to a maximum of 25 minutes, so cutting the HP in half would be a good idea.
Originally I wanted it to be endless like Icy Tower, there's no dead end in that game until you make a mistake, but I had to make a quick decision for this jam. It will change of course, in a couple weeks. There will be a timed mode and endless, but I need to come up with an idea for a losing condition then.
We'll see, thanks for playing!
