Hi everyone! After a lot of testing and iteration, I’m happy to share the beta release of Cariquima, my 3D texture painting tool for game art.

Paint directly on your models

Import a mesh, bake its maps, and start building materials with editable layers and masks. Apply Smart Materials that respond to the mesh’s geometry, then customize the result with direct brush painting.

Available in the beta

  • Seven editable Smart Materials, including worn metal, rust, dirt, and weathered wood.
  • Nine PBR channels and reusable Smart Masks.
  • Mesh-map baking, including Normal and Height from a high-poly mesh.
  • 1K, 2K, and 4K texture sets.
  • PNG/EXR export with Unreal Engine and Unity packing presets.
  • Autosave and crash recovery.

Platform and current limitations

Cariquima currently runs on Windows 10/11 and requires a Vulkan-capable GPU compatible with Godot’s Forward+ renderer.

The beta does not yet support UDIM, anchor points, changing an existing project’s resolution, or 8K textures. macOS and Linux versions are not available yet.

Price and updates

Access is $15 USD, including updates released during the alpha period. Post-beta versions, including the full release, will be sold separately and are not included in this purchase.

The project page includes screenshots, requirements, and further details about the current features and limitations.

Questions about the workflow are welcome. If you try Cariquima, I’d also love to hear what you create with it and where you run into problems.

Thanks for checking it out!
