Thank you for the kind words! I did give myself an extra challenge for this; instead of staying under 500 words as per the jam rule, I aimed for exactly 500. Having to choose each word carefully while keeping the vibe I'm aiming for was super fun.

Ayy!! I did not expect someone to pick up on Raymond Chandler's influence in this game!

Glad you enjoyed the game! There should be an option to change the font face in the settings. We used Atkinson Hyperlegible to increase legibility.

I'm already here and have been watching since the beginning! :D

I'm gonna be honest with you, anime style is usually not my thing. But this one really stands out, and I felt obliged to say something. Beyond the solid writing and story, I'd like to appreciate the subtle film grain,  chromatic aberration, and those particle effects in the visuals. It pulled me straight to the 90s vibe and kept me there for the entire game. I felt immersed. I definitely ended up staring at the intro CG a little too long before proceeding. It's so good!

Thank you! That was one of the things we paid close attention to! :D

I think I can sum up this game as hauntingly beautiful and beautifully haunting.

Good job!

Thank you so much for the thoughtful feedback! Everything you mentioned was actually a deliberate design choice on my part (some out-of-place / "unnecessary" words were added intentionally too!). I'm planning to dive deep into the hows and whys behind these decisions in my upcoming Directing and Writing devlogs---and a funny 'mistake' story behind one of them!😆

I really appreciate the attention to detail!

It's okay! And now you know there will be at least 1 person watching whenever you decide to stream Spooktober entries again (even though sometimes it might just be the VOD)! 😄

Inspiring someone is the highest praise I could ever receive. Thank you. I'm looking forward to what you will be making next as well!

So... I took your feedback to heart and made a new cover!

Again, thank you so much for your feedback ^^

Wait omg I watched your stream yesterday! I was surprised when you played my game, and actually waiting for your next stream to see you finish it LMAO.

And yes, since this is my first VN, I lean more into the kinetic novel genre. No branching whatsoever. I figured I'd rather have one solid linear story instead of many branches that are subpar. The choices are more of a vessel for themes, pacing, and letting the players step into the detective's shoes.

Thank you so much for playing! Glad you enjoyed it!

Beautiful interpretations!

There are only 3 'endings' before the loop begins: acceptance, running away, and silence.

There is no secret ending.

Thank you so much for playing, I hope you enjoyed it!

First of all, banger premise! You wrapped it up with an appropriate artstyle as well to sell the vibe. Reminded me of 1930s' animation. If I could be a bit nitpicky, here are some feedbacks;

The dialogue and narration could be improved. There's a lot of telling instead of showing. Especially the narrator. I'd love a little bit more description that engages the senses, making the story feel more immersive and alive.

The UI is also solid, but could use some work. Specifically, the transition and interactables. There were times where I waited for like a whole minute, thinking that I was currently in a cutscene since I couldn't just right click to proceed, only to realise that I had to put my mouse in an exact place to trigger the "?". In cases like these, a subtle indicator for selectables would work wonders!

This leads to my next point: accessibility! I really wished I could use my keyboard to navigate choices and advanced text. Limiting it to only right click to proceed and left click to skip text feels very clunky.

All that said, everything already ties together nicely. Super cohesive work overall! :D

DE?! That's a high praise. Thank you so much!

THANK YOU. You've made my day <3

You are right. I am really bad at making an engaging cover lol. It's literally the last thing I threw together before submitting. It is the art for the main menu and I was like "if I make this, it is gonna be the cover and banner as well just to be done with it" xD

I've played yours yesterday! Just didn't have the time to drop a proper comment/feedback yet! I'll do it tomorrow morning (Sat) when I'm less tied up ^^

Definitely gonna hop in to watch the stream! :D

Would love to hear your thoughts on "Mirror, Mirror, Who Am I?" https://dannway.itch.io/mirror-mirror-who-am-i

Thank you!

Thank you for playing! Glad you enjoyed it!

Sorry.

Thank you for the kind words! Administrator of Death is an interesting way to look at it :)

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it
