Thanks for reviewing my game. The theme connection was explored as a connection between the different enemies. Eliminating a white enemy/alpha allowed you to eliminate the red enemy with 1 shot where it would otherwise take 10. This was a timed effect of 1 minute, after 1 minute the red enemies hitpoints would be restored and it would take 10 shots. I'd been saying to myself that I would enter this jam for a few years now and never got around to doing it, this was a big step for me :D now that I have experienced it, I might put some more effort into it but I was put off about how many participants didn't want to review unreal engine entries because of the download. Thanks again for the review.

yeah I just blocked out the level and left things pretty rough. The main premade asset was the paragon character you play as and the enemies you shoot. This was my first jam, I was going to enter last year but didn't make it. But I did extend the C++ code to count the enemies and to have the elimination of one type of enemy affect the other. I think it has some promise as a shooter, maybe add some different gun types and more interesting creatures but I have another project I want to work on first.
I liked the background music, the rolling mechanic and the art but I kept getting stuck pretty often and then it wasn't obvious what I need to do when I got to the pit. It was fun building up the speed and rolling through maybe a function to give you a boost when you're stuck in the side might help before going to hit the reset would help.
I think it's a pretty cool idea. I didn't like the placement of the platform the initial box was placed on, it got in the way of me getting to the box holder. Also, I didn't like having to walk back each time to get another box., maybe have a box near each holder? I did like how the connections were made to bend the laser beam.
