I took a lot of inspiration from the Cowboy bebop OST (mostly incorporated into the sax soli), so that's pretty cool that it shone through , glad you enjoyed it :>

Mario 64 vibes, especially with instrumentation. Quality and style is consistent throughout, one thing I noticed tho is that the chord progression sounds the same in alot of the chill tracks, which makes it get repetitive and harder to differentiate what track im currently listening to cause it all blurs into one. Other than that, it did what it tried to do successfully.
You noticed!! :000
I honestly wanted to reference more throughout some more tracks I had planned, like High Speed Pursuit is heavily inspired by 'My Favorite Things's chord changes and the Woody Herman cover of it (I chronically listen to Jazz :3
Also thank you for appreciating the solos, they by far take the most time to get right and have that 'improvisation on the spot' feel.
mmmmm, I'm extremely suspicious to the fact that the cover and description with ai and you posted this almost immediately when the jam started, I'm inclined to believe you also used ai for the music, until you show proof you actually made the music by showing the DAW, im putting 0 stars on everything
Track 2 felt a taaad bit too uplifting, I think if it were to interchange between lets say 'Discovery' the tone change would feel kinda jarring. Speaking of 'Discovery', I really liked the chord progression in that track :>
Uhhh, good ost, I think it needed just one more track to feel complete but considering you had pretty much a little over a week (at most) and made 4 tracks it doesn't matter and this is still really impressive :P
I don't know how you guys pull all of this off in such a short amount of time, I would've expected this to take a full month of work looking from the outside. Friggin' amazing as always, this could easily be expanded upon and be made into a full game :P
'Gullible Morons' is prob my favorite, it has a cool freshness to it. I was kinda underwhelmed by 'Tricks, Facade' unfortunately, to me it didn't really have much going for it, I feel like it could've built its musical progression a lot better. Especially introducing new instruments especially during the trumpet section cause it got stale quickly. I like the bell ride sample it used tho :3
That's a surprise to hear, I usually have to manually offset a bunch of midi notes so they come in at slightly different times like a human would and input little playing mistakes.
Here's his yt channel, he does a lot of story scenarios including post-apocalyptic stuff. (most of his work is shorts)

Nice piano work, the reverb is greatly handled and overall sound is so gentle, however the same dynamics and articulations are carried over to the battle theme which kinda loses its intentionality as I can't really imagine this to accompany any sort of fight, it sounds like it could used to for some troubled thinking, (like a fight inside the mind or smth) but it doesn't really work for this. Still, I can't tell you how fantastic the piano and violin sounds, sounds incredible :>
The imagery reminds of Luke Humphries's, work, very surreal but comfy and uplifting at the same time, transcribing chords you discovered to midi is funny to me cause I usually have to do the opposite lmao. Also I didn't notice you recorded stuff until I read your text, I'm impressed you managed to blend the midi instruments so easily with the IRL recordings, usually i have to do a lot of adjusting and workarounds to make it sound believable. Overall really neat ost :>
Pretty comfy and chill ost, I like how atmospheric a lot of the stuff here is, fits what it's trying to go for, I will say tho that some of the tracks get repetitive easily due to not building upon rhythms and chords to develop them, which in a hypothetical game like this might admittedly not matter, but as a standalone ost it is a pretty noticeable problem. However, I am very impressed with the held consistency across these 13 tracks, nothing stuck out like a sore foot and the quality was a linear line, it had a clear style to it and you guys stuck with it, nice job :>
Yea makes sense, I get why it was played somewhat safely now to preserve it's intention. Also I went back to try and find the brass backgrounds and I DID it hear this time, I think I overlooked it because it was ONLY playing the piano chords, and the sound seems to blend into each other, which is good. Also don't be sorry that I didn't like it, I'm ridiculously picky when it comes to Jazz and play in a band with people who have even more gatekeepy tastes, for all it's worth you made a pretty damn good soundtrack for a fake bakery game. :>
Alright, I'm probably gonna have the hottest take on here, but I didn't really like OST :I And I'm going to try my best on explaining why. (Keep in mind this is INCREDIBLY subjective, proven by the positive feedback here.)
1. Instruments
This isn't really something that can be blamed, but by using virtual instruments I feel like you lose that true improvisation that your take on the theme is hinging on, now ofc playing and recording actual instruments would be a tall order and kind of lucrative in a crunchtime jam, but I think it would've helped this a lot, not even mentioning how every note sounds the same in the dynamics which I diminishes any interest for me in the solos. (also I just don't like the sounds of the virtual instruments in general, they sound super robotic and bland). Also the articulations feel super limited because of it as well, even if it is Bossa Nova a lot of it is high energy, some falls or scoops would greatly enhance this.
2. Composition
Alrighty, I was SUPER unengaged pretty much the whole way through, to me there was nothing interesting going on in the solos, which if anything should probably be the most enjoyable, everything felt super predictable and generic, I could probably try to sing along with the solo on my first time listening and not get off track in the slightest. And it probably has to do with playing it safe in the solos, it seemed like it always afraid to play a note off key or off chord which prevented it from sounding "Jazzy" in the first place.
3. Solo Sections
I think there was a severe lack of attention to detail in the solo sections, I would've really hoped that there could be more than just the rythym section and the other solo instrument to accompany the solo, like a section of any 3 same instruments (Like three trombones as an example) subtily highlighting the chords would add SO much to it, I think more research on how jazz music usually progresses (such as structure and standard chord changes in Jazz) would also elevate this.
Overall, I'm just kinda underwhelmed by this soundtrack, but that's just me, hope you find something of value from this critique.
(Excuse me for all the edits lol)
Thx for listening! and yea sry about the length of stuff, I didn't have much time to do a lot because of personal reasons, tried to condense as much I could into every single one of them. Also, The Game is a game that everybody plays all the time, only one thing you need to know, if you remember The Game, you lose :)
Have fun with the SINE player plugin, one thing to note about it, most of the marcato samples are delayed a little so put them a tiny bit behind the beat.
Oh lordy, I really like the creativeness in the story, even though it's definitely small it still feels so fleshed out. (I just heard 'the lick' while listening to Frenzied Parade, what the fuck /j) The OST is pretty self-contained and doesn't feel very showy and kinda blends into the background, and that miiight be intentional? Idk, for me personally all the songs are repetitive all the way through (Frenzied Parade does mix it up a little, but not enough), which dampens my impression on it unfortunately. I really like the game's premise tho :)
God damn the atmosphere in these are so great, the homeyness of the town theme is a great contrast to the tense ritual, if this game was real I'd have no doubt that the OST would be one of the defining factors of its hypothetical obsession the internet would have on it for like 2 weeks. Oh and also Markiplier would for sure play it.
GOD dAMn the length on these tracks is impressive for crunchtime!
And omg, I freaking LOVE this premise, it's so decayingly morbid (in a cool way :0)
Although I do have one minor nitpick, I feel like almost all of the tracks represent the locations more than what's going through the mind of the MC, Voice does a good job of this, but I would've liked to see more of it.
I really dig how experimental this all is though!
