The imagery reminds of Luke Humphries's, work, very surreal but comfy and uplifting at the same time, transcribing chords you discovered to midi is funny to me cause I usually have to do the opposite lmao. Also I didn't notice you recorded stuff until I read your text, I'm impressed you managed to blend the midi instruments so easily with the IRL recordings, usually i have to do a lot of adjusting and workarounds to make it sound believable. Overall really neat ost :>

Ah, I'm really happy to hear all of that, thank you!! I definitely struggled with getting recordings and MIDI to work together for a long time; if I can reflect at all, I think it just comes down to composition for me. I haven't really done all that much to the recordings or MIDIs to get them to work together; I think I have a single EQ on the bass on most tracks and that's about it lol
Also I tried to look up Like Humphries but all I got was a darts player lol... if you have anything specific in mind, I'd love to hear an example! Thank you again <3
That's a surprise to hear, I usually have to manually offset a bunch of midi notes so they come in at slightly different times like a human would and input little playing mistakes.
Here's his yt channel, he does a lot of story scenarios including post-apocalyptic stuff. (most of his work is shorts)

Yeah humanizing can go a long way; I do more of that with my rock albums. But with video game music I feel that most people are probably plenty used to hearing un-humanized tracks so I don't really find myself tinkering with that too much unless it really feels necessary.
Thank you for the link! It was very interesting talking with you; I really like how our takes and experiences seem to be so different but easy to communicate. If you ever wanna talk about music more, feel free to message me on Discord anytime!
