what are your expectations for the jam??

honestly, i feel like i'm gonna do quite well in this jam, i sure do hope so atleast...but hey, i wanna hear it from you guys, y'all expecting good results from this jam or nah?

Hello! My name is cuewotted, and i just wanna ask for some tips for this jam, cuz this is gonna be my second game jam ever, with this one having only half the time of the other one i participated (PSGJ)

honestly, this is great for me to add to a little "post jam" update, i'll make sure it gets added eventually!

idk if i commented before here but W game

really i mean it

i'm outta words
just happey

cool game will play again

i know this won't get anywhere but eh

i made a silly game called grapplin' colours, i think i did well

this was found only a few minutes after the game's submission, i'm quite sure there's many more glitches that i just missed (but haven't been reported so far)

i wanna reply to all of these but i'm just so epy

for all continuing development on grappling colours (now rebranded as grapplin' boomsword) here's the discord! It's also a personal discord for me so it'll have a lot of chatters n stuff :l

the I key isn't working?

wait there are free sounds and music?

I've actually had the same problem as you on this jam, the story was quite rushed and honestly i wish i could at least add some other stuff to it :/

for this game jam, i made a little game called grapplin' colours! It's basically just a little platformer that I made for fun and to improve my coding experience. I mean, this is technically my first ever game i released

overthinking. My biggest enemy tbh :l

so from what i've played on your game, it is actually pretty good! Especially for a game made by a person who's only been coding for 2 months, i can see your potential and i hope you make something new on the next PSGJ!

In my opinion, one of the main things that i wish i had done better in this game jam was to focus on the visual aspect of my game, as i kinda didn't...give a shit about it, and it looks kinda bad looking back at it, i wish i had put more effort into it really

do you guys have any sort of regrets like that?

Good afternoon sir! Thanks for the review of my game! It's reviews like these that encourage me to make more games like these, it honestly inspires me a lot :3

i actually did make a speedrun of grapplin' colours for the funny, i got a 1:43 if i recall correctly

well, it happens lol, i also suck at a couple of genres (RPGs, top downs and more 3Dish titles specifically due to my bad depth perception), but thanks for the complement lol :3

Hey! thanks for the feedback! I really do appreciate it a ton!

About the grapple points, i just honestly have to remake the sprites for them cuz they are not very...visible at this moment in time, so thanks for pointing that out!

if I'm gonna be honest with you, my game isn't really a stand out per se, but i worked really hard on it and i just want people to try it out really :3

here's the sub link btw https://itch.io/jam/pirate/rate/249237

wow, so many positive comments :3333 I'm quite flattered

Hey! thanks for the review of my game! I actually designed this game to be as re-playable as possible, almost comparable to something like the PICO-8 version of celeste, which is a game that was also made in a game jam from which i took a lot of inspiration from (alongside the final version of celeste lul), about the introductory text, it was more or so an afterthought which means i didn't have a ton of time to really think about the size of it n stuff, so i just tried making a short little story that could be expanded upon

i plan to make a bigger version of this game where the story is told in short bits from each level n stuff in the future, but unfortunately due to time constraints, i was unable to finish things like cutscenes for the game

thanks for the review tho <3

hey! thanks for posting a review about my game, i really appreciate it <3, about the walljump, I'll be implementing this in a future update of the game I'll release later on where I'll add more levels and stuff! i really appreciate this tip cuz i just realized how well my game could benefit from it

also, the entire aspect of the darkness, I'm planning to make a faster, slower and static mode of it to apply in different levels, so for example, in levels with more exploration like level 3, the darkness would be static and there would be more stuff to search and explore all the alternate paths

and once again, thanks for the criticism!

Well i would like to say thanks for the feedback first and for all! I'm gonna be very plainly honest with you here and awnser a few questions regarding some stuff that you outlined here

regarding the start of level 2, that difficulty spike at the start was honestly something that was quite unplanned really, i planned to add ladders to it n stuff but because ladders have a small problem that i was not able to fix until the end of the jam regarding animations, i was unable to add them there, this comes alongside the indicator for the grappling hook that was cut due to time constraints, so yeah, sorry about that!

but i'm honestly quite flattered by the review you submitted, as this is my first ever game jam game, and i've worked extremely hard on it, tysm <3

this game honestly made me not give up from this jam tbh, really cool game about positivity n stuff

<3

goody game i approve

well i'll be making some updates to this game soon, maybe add a few levels and correct a few bugs here and there :3

and we did it boys, finnaly we uploaded the game to itch, this game jam got me like

quite fun
