what are your expectations for the jam??
honestly, i feel like i'm gonna do quite well in this jam, i sure do hope so atleast...but hey, i wanna hear it from you guys, y'all expecting good results from this jam or nah?
i know this won't get anywhere but eh
i made a silly game called grapplin' colours, i think i did well
for all continuing development on grappling colours (now rebranded as grapplin' boomsword) here's the discord! It's also a personal discord for me so it'll have a lot of chatters n stuff :l
for this game jam, i made a little game called grapplin' colours! It's basically just a little platformer that I made for fun and to improve my coding experience. I mean, this is technically my first ever game i released
In my opinion, one of the main things that i wish i had done better in this game jam was to focus on the visual aspect of my game, as i kinda didn't...give a shit about it, and it looks kinda bad looking back at it, i wish i had put more effort into it really
do you guys have any sort of regrets like that?
if I'm gonna be honest with you, my game isn't really a stand out per se, but i worked really hard on it and i just want people to try it out really :3
here's the sub link btw https://itch.io/jam/pirate/rate/249237
Hey! thanks for the review of my game! I actually designed this game to be as re-playable as possible, almost comparable to something like the PICO-8 version of celeste, which is a game that was also made in a game jam from which i took a lot of inspiration from (alongside the final version of celeste lul), about the introductory text, it was more or so an afterthought which means i didn't have a ton of time to really think about the size of it n stuff, so i just tried making a short little story that could be expanded upon
i plan to make a bigger version of this game where the story is told in short bits from each level n stuff in the future, but unfortunately due to time constraints, i was unable to finish things like cutscenes for the game
thanks for the review tho <3
hey! thanks for posting a review about my game, i really appreciate it <3, about the walljump, I'll be implementing this in a future update of the game I'll release later on where I'll add more levels and stuff! i really appreciate this tip cuz i just realized how well my game could benefit from it
also, the entire aspect of the darkness, I'm planning to make a faster, slower and static mode of it to apply in different levels, so for example, in levels with more exploration like level 3, the darkness would be static and there would be more stuff to search and explore all the alternate paths
and once again, thanks for the criticism!
Well i would like to say thanks for the feedback first and for all! I'm gonna be very plainly honest with you here and awnser a few questions regarding some stuff that you outlined here
regarding the start of level 2, that difficulty spike at the start was honestly something that was quite unplanned really, i planned to add ladders to it n stuff but because ladders have a small problem that i was not able to fix until the end of the jam regarding animations, i was unable to add them there, this comes alongside the indicator for the grappling hook that was cut due to time constraints, so yeah, sorry about that!
but i'm honestly quite flattered by the review you submitted, as this is my first ever game jam game, and i've worked extremely hard on it, tysm <3
