Hi everyone!
Avocado Simulator is a small, cozy (and slightly stubborn) pixel-art game about growing an avocado tree from a pit. Yes, like the one you once balanced on toothpicks over a glass of water and then forgot about. This one will not let you forget.
The plant grows in real time, even when the game is closed. At the suggested speed one real hour is three days for your tree, so a first harvest takes about a month of real life. Avocados have never been in a hurry.

WHAT YOU DO
- - Start with a pit on toothpicks over a glass of water, then move it to a pot when you feel brave. Plastic, terracotta, wood or fabric: each one dries out differently.
- - Water it by eye or to the millilitre. Too little kills it. Too much also kills it, just more slowly and with more mould.
- - Feed it, prune it, and move it from the windowsill to the balcony to the garden.
- - Protect it from sunburn, frost, spider mites and caterpillars.
- - Read the signs. Yellow leaves can mean several things, and the game won't tell you which.
- - Paint your pot (or a cachepot) in a tiny built-in paint program.
- - Look after Chupo, the house wolfdog. Give him a cuddle now and then. A bored Chupo knocks the plant over.

ARCADE MODE, FOR THE IMPATIENT
Time runs only while you play, the tree grows about seven times faster, and all its numbers are on screen. The world keeps interrupting: hailstorms, a green comet, a neighbour with a "miracle" fertilizer, a fruit thief. Spend mutation points on waxy leaves, red veins or variegated foliage.

ABOUT THIS ALPHA
- Free. Windows only. English only.
- Saves are local, nothing is competitive.
- Windows may show a SmartScreen warning because the game isn't code-signed yet: click "More info" then "Run anyway".
- Found a bug, or a plant that died unfairly? Menu > "Export a report for feedback" creates a text file. I'd love to read it, here in the comments or on the itch page.
I'm especially curious about two things: does the real-time pace feel relaxing or frustrating? And did anyone manage to make Chupo angry?
Thanks for reading!
No avocados were harmed in the making of this game. Several were overwatered.
