I think you're on the right track with this mechanic.

I want to add that maybe you can change the difficulty of the QTE at certain times: making it more difficult when the enemy is "scarier/stronger/more observant" or when the hiding spot is more risky (among bugs or trinkets). Also, since some people are bad with QTE, maybe add the option to simply hold down certain buttons, in the future of course.

Just wondering, were you considering the idea of self-moving platforms, like a conveyor belt?

There's a bug where Mao randomly freezes, usually after pausing the game or going in the room with her. She "unfreezes" after a couple of seconds

Here's a gameplay suggestion. Adding getting up mechanic. Say, Yui falls or have to crawl or maybe get over obstacles like smal walls maybe. She could shimmy against the wall and eventually stand up, but it takes time, so you could use that mechanic in timed events or chases to add tension. Instead of hopping away from an enemy, she could crawl and then stand up but you will be losing precious time when standing up

Will this game have bondage/bdsm features? Self-bondage would be nice, but also how about a mini-section where the girl can be caught by someone and 1) either tied to a pole and she has to escape before dawn or 2) be taken to someone's basement and also escape. No need for the explicit scenes if that's not your thing, you could always make it fade-to-black
