Thank you so much <3!!!

OOOH yeah I get what you mean. The angle limit itself is a bit of a bandaid fix, it's mostly there since jumping parallel to the surface would break all the animations and physics occasionally

Thank you so much <3

Thanks so much for playing and for taking your time to write this.

I'm not really sure what you mean about the jump being out of range. But looking back on it i think i should've added the option to cancel the jump or something because I also overcharged it a couple times when I was testing but for some reason I didn't think of adding a cancel then. I guess my intention was for the player to learn when the jump is strong enough by just playing but that might've been a little too ambitious lol.

I actually made this type of slime platformer before (but in unity) when I challenged a couple friends to do a jam with me, and the theme we chose was "only one". I didn't even realize it was the same theme until the day after i voted for freeze too. I was going to suggest you try the older game but it's genuinely so much worse that I don't think that would be a good idea haha.

Thanks so much for playing!!

The whistle in the background indicates that the slime will freeze when they go out into the air. I think I should've made it more obvious somehow but I'm still not really sure how haha.

The sleep definitely helped lol, managed to beat it this time. Fantastic game!!

Thanks so much for playing !!

I'm glad you enjoyed it. I wish I could make a level all about sliding on the ice but it was a little too janky to use that extensively. I just went back and added some extra walls to the 2nd and 3rd levels a to hopefully make them a little easier. So if you still want to try to beat the game that should help I hope.

Thanks for playing <3

Yeah the difficulty seems to be one of the bigger things I messed up in the game. I think I was needlessly cruel with how precise my safe zones were (like i didn't count the snow piles as things you can hide behind).

I just went back and fixed hopefully most of those and I added some extra safe zones to maybe hopefully make it a little more manageable.

Thank you so much!! This was my first time working with sounds so I'm glad I managed to make something you found amazing :)

Thanks for playing !!

You’re right on all fronts with extending the tutorial. I’ll definitely makes some extra levels after the jam is over, but I don’t think I would’ve had the time to make them before the submissions opened, for context the last 3 levels took me the whole last day to make and i finished them right before the deadline.

The second level was actually supposed to teach the freezing mechanic but I think I made it too aggressive(?), aI even have some hints still in the level just hidden.

Thanks for playing !!
And wow you have the best time out of anyone I've seen so far. I'm glad i managed to hook someone enough to go for the speedrun lol. If you're up for it try beating my PB too :)

Thanks for playing <3!!

I could've definitely done a better job at introducing the mechanics at the start.

Thanks so much for playing. In hindsight I should've put more effort into explaining the freezing mechanics, maybe another shorter level after the first one. I realize I'm a little late to ask for the end screen but I hope you did end up clearing the game <3

Thanks so much!! It took me the whole last day of the jam to make the last 3 levels because of how much detail I decided to cram in at the last second, I'm really glad to see it paid of and people are enjoying the art :)

I think my brain might be too small for this game, or I'm too sleepy. The art, sound and vibes are really cool tho, I will definitely come back tomorrow to try again <3

The army of bots I had at the end was fun to see

Instant brain activation when I saw i had to choose one of three options. I wish there were more opportunities to use the upgrades tho

Very creative use of the fans, I especially liked the part where you have to stand on the box

Actual perfection. Using the whistle to finish off the fire dudes is very creative, The way freezing was done was cool too. I like that the tutorial had no text, that really made me use my brain for once lol. The cliff section reminded me of Half Life 1 too.

Everything about the penguins is so cute that I'm physically compelled to say "aw pengui :(" every time i run one over. All of the art is very good actually. Very well made game!

the reading comprehension devil does not discriminate it seems

I see we have another difficult platformer in these jam submissions. Jokes aside I the game is very well put together. The taunts in the background were a nice touch and some were good hints.

YESSS You found him!! Thanks so much for playing and the Celeste comparison

Thank you so much. Being in the same sentence as Celeste is a win in my book so I'll take it haha. <3

Thanks so much for playing <3!!

Yeah, the difficulty turned out worse then I intended. I could've communicated how to avoid the freezing better too, it seems some people figured it out relatively quickly but for others it was a big challenge.

I don't think I had the time to make it any longer, I finished the last level just as the submissions were closing, and i spent the whole day before that making the last 3 levels. That might've worked in favor of the game tho since less levels means less time to grow frustrated of the difficulty, so actually it was all intentional :p.

Fun game,I like that all the directions have a unique bird sprite. The art itself is pretty charming too. I think the music is very whimsical and fits the overall aesthetic, it kinda sounds like birds chirping in there too?

I'd maybe have 2 different whistle noises for summoning birds and freezing them but one works fine too.

thank you <3

Yeah, the difficulty seems to be a real pain point this time. Turns out its hard to balance a game for beginners when you know it so well that everything seems easy.

Thanks so much for playing <3!!

You actually have the fastest time out of the player times I’ve seen so far. The second best was 9:03.  (my personal best was 1 minute  exactly, but i’m told dev times don’t count)

In hindsight I should’ve made a better introduction for the freezing aspect. There were actually hints on the second level but they were a little distracting. I also kind of wanted to teach the mechanics through gameplay but it seems I still have room to improve in that aspect lol.

As for the timer, if I make a version of this game with feedback from the jam in mind i’ll definitely put it in.

I agree with everything Shimmerism said. I also really like the visuals for getting stomped on and stomping the other uhh... characters. It was a little hard finding the player character after levels changed but I don't what you can do about that if you're going for the gameboy look.

Fun game and some of the puzzles actually made me think. I also recognize those sounds lol, retro something pack right? I used them before in one of my first games, (and for the menu noises in this jam).

Also you made SO MANY levels, i wish I could do that many but It took me the whole day today to just make 2 and a half T^T.

(oops, sorry the comment got posted twice)

What a sick and twisted individual you must be to make a game this difficult. It's funny that to win you also have to freeze... makes you thunk

Fun game, managed to get 4039 points. The distortion waves(??) were a little distracting but you get used to it.

that and writing the code lol. I really wanted to use the ice more in the levels but it was so janky i had to limit it to like 5 tiles tops

Thanks for playing!! <3

The pixel art itself took surprisingly little time this time around since I'm using tilemaps for almost everything. The same can not be said about designing the levels but what can you do...

I've been practicing for at probably around 6 years or so? This type of low res stuff isn't really my style tho, especially when it comes to humans (as you can see by the janky king guy)

Very fun fun mechanic. The visuals are simple but I think that helps with readability. I think this might be a skill issue on my part but I wish the line had a little slack since it makes you get stuck sometimes but is fun regardless.

thanks for playing <3.

It’s so hard to judge the difficulty of the game while you’re making it since you know better than the back of your hand, so the difficulty is my bad.

I’ll make a little playthrough video and post it on the page if someone is having trouble tho.

Thank you, making the art for this game was definitely a highlight!

Thank you :)

Thanks for playing and for the feedback!
Yeah the shark is supposed to be eating the fish but as the fish get bigger it's a little inconsistent since it needs to be within like 20 pixels of the center of the fish to eat it.
The part about splitting the fish is great too, since they do get a little ugly when they are so big.
