I played nice to start with and my heart sank when they said they struggled to afford the session. I realised it was going to get worse...and hoo boy does it get worse. Between this and the epilogue, yeah, that's distressing. Very sobering, good work. I'm going to pretend that the best end is true end now, lol.

This Is Not Chess is a turn-based tactics game where squads of goofy characters duke it out for dominance. Characters can prepare their attacks to execute on the following turn(s) or you can use up your actions to make it happen sooner. You can play through the first chapter of the campaign, assemble your own squad and take on the challenge maps or enjoy a custom brawl in the skirmish mode.

  • Turn-based tactics, how do you spend your actions?
  • Wide variety of goofy and unusual characters duking it out across colourful grid-based battlefields.
  • Silly story about a group of friends on a quest for glory.
  • Challenge mode where you create your squad and take on predefined battles.
  • Local skirmish mode with multiple teams, customisable winning conditions atop randomised or preset maps.
  • Inbuilt editors that let you create your own units, maps and campaigns!

This Is Not Chess is currently in development, with the roughness that comes with it. However I'd appreciate you guys giving it a look and will listen to feedback as I work on it. The demo will only allow you to play the first five levels of a campaign and restricts the maximum number of units allowed in a skirmish.

Ahahahaha, damn it! Think I broke it right at the finish line!

I slapped into the finish line's pole on the 49th lap and reversed over the finish line. Then I had to drive forwards (going the wrong way on the track) to get my bearing, and it ticked over to lap 50 when I crossed the line again! All I could do was keep driving in slowmo until I finally carked it.

Awesome game mate, I really like this take on the "Time trial ghosts" concept!
Even if you try to cheese it by driving slowly and orderly, every little difference between the laps builds up and soon you find yourself surrounded on all sides, haha!
