Thanks, make sure to leave some feedback here if you have. Right now I'm making the demake for Silent Hill 2 Remake, you can check out my project. :3

First, I download the mp3 audio files, then use some audio editting apps like Audacity, resample the SFX to 8000 Hz, filter in 100 - 5834 Hz range, crank the volume up to 8 - 9 dB, and finally export the sound as unsigned 8-bit wav file. That's how you convert SFX to 8-bit.
Notice: GB Studio's built-in emulator still make buzz sound so you have to export the game as ROM and play on another emulator.
I have made a patch on this page, you can check it out.
But if the bug still occurs, you can load the previous save, press Select button at the start of the cutscene (that's how I do when debugging) to skip it (you can skip most of the cutscenes in this game with Select). After that you get the Good Ending.
Holy, that map design is so good, much better than mine. Except that the color palette of your looks more like SH2 than SH1.
Up to now, I've finished the cafe and implemented the fog and darkness system (which is really important for a Silent Hill game). But after looking at your image, I think I will redesign the map to be bigger, or just keep it small like your SH2 Demake.
