Thanks for the feedback, appreciate you trying out the game.
The playtest will be on-going perpetually and changes will be made based on feedback like yours. Admittedly, there is no tutorial at all and it may be challenging for new players. Personally, I prefer games without in-game tutorials like those in the 1980s, 1990s -- the exploration is part of the fun too. So I decided to experiment with the tutorial omitted to see how far I can push.
Unfortunately as a solo dev with no art skills, love alone is not enough to attract artists to work with me on a project that has no guarantee of succeeding. If this project makes money, I will definitely hire artist to not only replace the AI portraits, but also create cut scenes for the storyline campaign.

Landoria is a casual fantasy SRPG where you play as a one of seven faction leaders, plan battles, engage in tactical battles, capture heroes, convert prisoners to your cause, plan more battles, until you unite the world.
Landoria is a remake inspired by Dragon Force (Sega Saturn), which I consider as the predecessor of modern complex 4X grand strategy games like Civilization, Total War and Crusader Kings. As a strategy game during its era, it has a relatively simple but unique gameplay and JRPG story experience for younger players. There is an existing fan base (age 35-45) behind Dragon Force, myself included, which we can reach out to. Although for Landoria to surpass their expectations will be challenging, but we can still introduce new players to relive the joy of playing a classic strategy game.
I am a solo developer working full time on Landoria for about 1.5 years, and I am at the stage where I would like to enlist your help to polish and complete the project.
- 2D/Animation Art: Your character and portrait artwork will allow the player to immerse deeper into the fantasy world, develop empathy with and become attached to the characters. The 2D (animated) cut scenes will convey the personality and emotions of the heroes and foes alike, and develop imagery of the world event scenes in the minds of the player, whether it's peace, chaos, mystery or surprise.
- 3D Model/Animation: Landoria is a casual low poly, (somewhat) flat-shading style fantasy game. Other than environment design battlefields, a large part of your contribution will be into making character convincing in how they look visually as compared to their 2D visual counter parts, and troops that are distinctive in 100 vs 100 battles. The unique movement and behaviors you design will reinforce the personality of the main story characters.
Appreciate your time in reading this post and taking a look at my game. If you are interested and confident in your skills, please fill up this form with some references to your work in the same or similar capacity. If you are a Dragon Force fan or have played the game before, do let me know as well. TIA!
