Gold are power cells, which are increasing a power bar. Black are shurikens thing, which are obstacles.

How did you come up with this "brain breaking" idea? It's pretty amazing!

Yeah, I thought about this mechanic, but later I realized, that someone can use it too. And I was right! ;)
