That's actually a really good point. My idea is to keep the core identity of Sketchward while introducing new mechanics and challenges as the story progresses, rather than suddenly replacing everything players enjoyed. Nothing is set in stone yet, so feedback like this genuinely helps. Thanks for sharing your perspective!

Hey everyone!
I'm a solo developer working on Sketchward, a hand-drawn strategy adventure set inside a living sketchbook.

The free demo currently features lane-based defense, but I don't want the entire game to stay that way.
I'm experimenting with some ideas for the future:
- Exploring mysterious black-and-white worlds and bringing back their colors.
- Discovering new allies, abilities, and unexpected combinations.
- Roguelite adventures with different rewards and challenges every run.
- New gameplay mechanics as the story unfolds.

Nothing is finalized yet, but I want every new chapter to feel like discovering something unexpected inside a storybook.
So I'm curious: Would you enjoy a game that keeps introducing new ways to play, or do you prefer games that stick to one core mechanic?
I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Hey everyone!
I've been working on a little indie game called **Sketchward**, and I've finally released its first playable demo!

It's a hand-drawn lane-defense game set inside a sketchbook. You collect Ink, place cute little Allies, and try to stop ink creatures from reaching your Page Seal.
The gameplay takes some inspiration from PvZ, but I wanted to give it its own sketchbook theme and mechanics.
What's in the demo?
* 4 playable stages in Chapter 1: Greenfield
* 4 different Allies to discover
* Ink splashes that you can collect during battles
* A little preview of the game's future systems

I built the game using Godot with AI assistance for parts of the coding and artwork. I've spent quite a lot of time adjusting the gameplay and visuals, and it's been a fun learning experience.
It's still a work in progress, but the demo is fully playable!

I'd really appreciate some honest feedback, especially on the gameplay, difficulty, and overall art style.
Thanks for checking it out!
