Funnily enough Zelda wasn't an inspiration for this. I was inspired by Undertale's soundtrack and the music of Erik Satie.

The first song was I N S A N E!! I wasn't so sure about the rhythmic ostinato on which the second is built unfortunately. Third one is really good, the keyboard motif reminded me of undertale a little. Fourth one, I liked the spicier harmonies. Fifth one, was the one I liked the most after the first one, the drums felt really nice on that one. If you don't have yet, make a post-rock album the world will thank you for it (or at least I will lol).
Both tracks are very eerie, little bit like Selected Ambient Works vol. 2 but more accessible (don't know if that makes any sense lol). I liked that you took liberties with the theme but personally I like it better when I can really tie the song to game elements whereas your songs where more like in the vibe of the given picture. Still, I liked your tracks and they would fit great in an horror game!
Really creative genre for video game music you don't see that everyday! The only lacking thing for me was the mix, the drums felt dry and the elements all felt like they were not played in the same room at all but it doesn't impact the music too much. Also, the tracks are in the wrong order on youtube so just a head's up :)
Hey man! Overall this is great but there are a lot of little things especially on your score that add up to make an unprofessional product (I really do not mean this in a bad way I once made scores that looked like this too).
1. Always put a indicator of how the music should be played alongside the tempo (ex. Whishful q=60)
2. Every instrument should always have a starting dynamic
3. The layout of your instrument on your score is all wrong I would suggest looking at scores made for smaller ensembles to know how to do your mise en page
4. Always remember that you are writing for humans! As an example of what I mean look at the flute ostinato from Shards of Twillight. Where does the flutist breathes? You would need to write that part for two flutes instead of one if you want it to be like that or you could give that part to an instrument which does not need to breathe like a violin.
5. When a section finishes is not clear in your score. Take a look at at the end of 3. and the start of 4. Where does one ends and the other starts?
6. Dynamics do NOT represent volume!!!! If you change a dynamic because noteperformer plays it too softly you should just boost the volume in the mixer!
As I said, overall your pieces are great but as they stand right now no professional ensemble would even play them because the score is way too amateurish looking. Again, don't take these the wring way, you have some really great ideas in there and with just a little lesson or by reading a book on orchestration everything will fall into place.
Great submission!!
