That's a crazy score out of 3500 entries! Next time I won't push for ratings as much, because I think a lot of people didn't play it and just put 3s across the board for a free rating. I'll see you in the GMTK game jam!

Ha! Oh! I think you might have played the original jam version, I updated the files for the better one, but itch takes a while to update on it's servers. In the new version, the pacing is greatly improved. I am still figuring out how I can utilise the movement for more original gameplay, because as you said, it isn't anything new. Thank you for the great feedback!
Hello everyone!
I am currently working on a prototype project, Cart Wars. It was made for The Very Serious Juniper Dev Game Jam in just seven days, but has been reworked a little since then. I would really appreciate if you took the time to play and leave feedback. It would help me out a ton. I am looking for feedback on gameplay, bugs and what you would want to see in the game to play as a finished product. Leave your feedback either here or on the game page.
It's free to play obviously) and works in browser on most computers over the age of 14 years old, I know because I am making it on one that old.
Thank you again,

Thank you! These are two things I plan on fixing later on in development (when jam season is over). I guess sticking horns onto a shopping trolly at low res kinda does make it hart to understand... but I feel as though this might not be something I need to fix, as a little mystique here and there doesn't hurt ;) Thanks again!
I recommend having a browser build for demos, as you are not selling a product, you are testing it. I like to think of marketing as king of the hill: When you are the vendor, you are the king on your game page, people want to play and buy it. When you are giving a free demo, the player is the king, you are asking for their short time and attention, so you need to make it as easy as possible. I can't download windows, but I will give the advice I can from the images/video: I think the art style is really nice, well defined. I think you might want to try and promote a more aggressive play style, as if I played this, I might find it easier to just run away and follow the coins. Maybe try making the police much faster than the player to force the player to find ways to crash them more often. I think you might want to have a more unique upgrade system. Maybe add some sort of mini game or another interaction to make it feel separate from the main gameplay; look at games like Pacific Drive and how they have more interaction built into the upgrades rather than just pressing a '+' button to watch a stat go up. Looks really cool and chaotic! Good luck and I hope I've been useful!
Hello everyone!
Welcome to the empty void that is !Post Voting Stage! What sis you guys get? What did you learn? What went poorly and what went well?
I was sourly humbled by what I got, I definitely over estimated what a first solo jam goes like:

I was very surprised at what I got because the comments were really positive. I should have done more play testing to get feedback, as this would have made it a world better. Either way, I have updated the game now with the fixes suggested in said comments.

Welcome to Cart Wars (Jam Edition)! In this high-octane, bullet hell/rouge-lite game, you play as a shopping souped-up shopping cart ramming other trollies! It's a fast paced and full of action, collect up to 4 upgrades to enhance your carts destructive capabilities and play 10 rounds increasing in difficulty. The game features custom top-down driving physics to give smooth, flowing movement.
Check it out today! Please leave feedback as it is a prototype and more ideas are always welcome!
See you in the checkout shoppers!

Hey all!
For the 9 hour remainder of this jam, I will be honestly rating as many games as I can in need of rates. Please send them to me and I will get on them as soon as I can. Don't expect a rate immediately, but I will rate them before the jam is up.
If you want to check out my game here it is.
Thanks, Cathode Interactive
Hey!
This is my first solo jam and I have been loving it! The community is really lovely and engaged with rating etc. It has been such a pleasure to play so many incredible games and find out what it takes to make a full (although small) game from start to finish. 10/10 game jam!
I am also really happy with the game I made, Cart Wars, as I got everything I wanted to into it. I plan on continuing work on it by learning through feedback (so maybe you could add some in the comments?). Thanks and good luck!
This was my first solo jam experience, I had done the art for other jams in the past, but this was new for me. I am super proud of my game Cart Wars and I would love to do this jam again, no regrets. I got my main mechanic of movement down on the first weekend, but after that, I had less spare time and more bugs as the game expanded. It was such a good thing to do as I learnt the whole process of putting a game on itch and marketing it to other devs. I'm already working on a full version of my game, so watch out for that. I tried to predict my ranking overall and I thought about 200th, so we'll see!
I am rating games on another thread, so if you need some, check that out. Bye!
It's cool! It immediately shows what the game is about: action, fast paced movement and explosions! I think maybe you could only use one image, or find a way to make it less busy in the background. Also, think from a marketing stand point, you want to have bright, flashy colours to attract attention. Maybe the darker setting should be made more eye-catching or poppy. Overall though, a great start!
