So much of this is memorable, especially the art direction and writing.

This is really good. Some great ideas and a lot of polish. Looking forward to seeing more!

Great art and visual storytelling. A memorable experience.

Great attention to detail. Fun maps to explore. 👍

I really liked this. Would love to see these mechanics in a bigger project.

Oh geez, I didn't even see those. My fault! I totally count 'em.

Surprisingly addictive little game. The increase in hearts per click draws you in. Would be good to see some dev logs, so we know how progress is going!

Fun game, feels unique. Took a couple tries to get the hang of the controls. No dev logs though. :(

Great, detailed dev logs. I appreciate the inclusion of pictures. Hope you make lots of progress!

No dev logs. Fun game though!

Fun! Love the art style. It's also really nice that you can interact with almost everything.

Thank you so much! Nah, you're not the first to snag on that. I'm seriously considering a very simple quest journal system. I do want the game to resist progression a little, but not too much. Very glad you had fun!

Heey, anytime. Thank you for the chill, memorable playthroughs!

Thank you so much! I'm glad you had a good time 😁

This is a great idea. Keep building!

Really clean. Love the art style and animations. Would love to see more.

Detailed maps, fun to explore.  Feels like it will be cozy and fun. I did get an error on casting the heal spell at one point. I'm looking forward to seeing this project more fleshed out.

I appreciate the re-play. Your comment the first time around was super helpful. I'm glad you're looking forward to playing more.

Hello! Thanks for your question!

While areas are somewhat varied and the game is not set in an enclosed space (outdoor areas are prominent), there is heavy emphasis on exploration, preparation, resource management, and combat management. I'd estimate 75% of play time is spent in dangerous areas combing for loot and paths forward, and the player is encouraged to use mechanics that can prolong their time away from safety.

As for scope, I imagine this project will finish at 10-12 hours play time, possibly less. I'm aiming for a short, fairly dense experience.

People who've tried the demo and developed enough of an interest to play test are encouraged to reach out for a downloadable version, which contains more content than the in-browser demo. Pretty soon I'll make a Discord channel for the game to distribute files and keep everyone on the same page.

This game is made using the Trinity Resource Pack DLC in RPG Maker MZ.

I'm seeking feedback on map design, legibility of the story, combat balancing, and impressions re: atmosphere, tone, and the like. This game assumes some experience with JRPGs and aims to emulate the simple yet challenging esthetic of my personal favorites.

This demo currently makes up about 3 hours' play time. I've also done a fair amount of work post-demo. The main reason for its length is that I'm also looking for dedicated test players (to be credited prominently). I figure I can set up a discord and send volunteers a download file of the complete game.

I'm also open to trade feedback on your project!

Really cute. I like the cat's movement sprite an unreasonable amount.

Fun! Good controls, good difficulty, good hitboxes.

Hey, take all the time you need. It's a decent time requirement for sure. Thanks again! (btw I've also been meaning to revisit EtD)

Loved it. Maps that reward exploration, great writing & music, a ton of nice details. Looking forward to more!

Fun, funny, and cute. RPG Maker 2000 engine is extremely cozy to see.

Nice visuals and controls! I think this will be a lot of fun.

A lot of fun--subtle gameplay, especially with the combos. Got a couple crashes--once after getting the sword, once after hitting the lever. Looking forward to seeing more of this game!

Hi all,

https://chosenundead261.itch.io/wizard-hunter

This is a free JRPG/dungeon-crawler with a simple but unique gameplay loop, dense and explorable areas, dozens of skill and equipment options, and interesting puzzles and secrets.

Enjoy!

Hey thank you! I can't take credit for the movement; that belongs to the RPG Maker MZ engine. Glad you enjoyed!

Excellent, thank you for playing! 😁

I like it. You can find a sweet spot just a little off-center where you're safe from everything, though--maybe slight random element to car spawn locations? Cars changing lanes would be good to see, though you might already be planning that.

Controls really well, difficulty ramps up well, and theme is on-point. It really does feel at first like you're moving through a fun progression system with the cosmetics etc you pick up, and the Crow's change is well-executed.

Really nice! A lot can be built on this prototype, I think.  My only criticisms are that the aim was not super accurate for me, and it was a bit easy to get caught & mobbed at the little corners where bottom-facing doors stick up. It would be nice to be able to increase your light radius a little, if only temporarily.

Thank you for the fantastic critique and time spent playing my game! It sounds like things are just a bit more obscure and difficult than I set out to make them, but it should be an easy set of fixes. Great suggestions, and thanks also for the kind words.

Thanks a lot for the critique. I definitely share your concerns with the active battle system and will probably switch over to strictly turn-based. I'll also look at making the gameplay loop and expectations a bit more clear before sending the player out.

This plays really well. I like the story too. More types of weapons would add a lot of depth to gameplay.

I like this. I tried Easy mode and then Hard mode and had fun with both.

I'm having a great time with this. It's really funny and chill and I'm looking forward to exploring this world.

I appreciate you for getting that far. Thanks for the encouragement.

I liked this a lot! I did find it pretty easy to do things out-of-order (I did the wolves' forest before finding Kestria and didn't get Jareth until just before making the potion).  This could be deliberate since there's a time constraint? A lot of cool ideas though!
