Shooting Star!

Dash at the stars to blow them up and keep them from getting to the ground! The game gets progressively harder as time goes on. Maximize your high score!

I made this game in about 2 weeks, and I got inspired by Celeste's dash mechanic to make it.

New stuff looks good! I really like the vibe of the new city area.

awesome

I HOPE THE KING GIVES ME A PROMOTION...

You need to upload the whole Unity build folder instead of just the executable, the executable relies on the other files in the folder and can't run without them. :)

Sometimes I have to reset because the gears/platforms are at the wrong position at the wrong time.

For example, there could be 2 seconds left on the countdown, but the platform in front of me is deactivated, so I need to waste those seconds waiting for the platform to activate again, and the countdown runs out through no fault of my own. Basically, everything is unsynchronized and that's a little frustrating.

Also, gears are least platformable shape.

To be fair though, most of this stuff doesn't really matter until the last level. The game is quite enjoyable up until that point.

I like the new boss fight, it's probably the best new feature, but I think the room transition that opens up after the fight is broken. I just went right past the "next" sign and started walking on the ceiling.

The game feels great to play. The music/sound is phenomenal.
The one big criticism I have is that every time I beat a level, I was instantly thrown into the next one. I couldn't really be satisfied with beating a level because I was instantly given another challenge.

Pros:
Funny and clever humor.
Good dialogue.
Great execution of its theme.
Cool world!

Cons:
The shield and grenade switch-trigger abilities are underutilized.
There are too many things that instant-kill the character, like pits and lasers.
The grenade explosion effect sticks around for too long and can kill you even when the opacity is low.

The cons are manageable, and the pros make the game great. I'm a fan!

Favorite Area: Social Zone
Favorite Character: Boot

:)

This game looks great and plays great. The attacks are clever and funny. I got both endings on normal mode and even beat Sansfield on hard mode.

Bug: For one playthrough, I just used "pray" the whole time instead of fighting. But when Sansfield was defeated with a powerful meteor, the game simply went to a black screen and continually played the pray song on loop. I didn't get an actual ending this way.

Update: This bug has been fixed :) Thank you Spasco

I got all three keys, and then I went back to the village to unlock the door, but only two of the keys went in, and the third disappeared. This caused to game to enter an unbeatable state in which there was 1 lock but 0 keys, so I had to restart and collect them again. I think the key disappearing was caused by me talking to the guy at the south part of the locked door room.

I like the concept. The game encourages you to take the fastest route possible. Defeating enemies isn't simply a matter of defeating them, but more of a matter of... well, time. You have to think about the fastest way to beat enemies rather than the safest.

In a game where health and time and the same thing, why are there timed spike traps? It doesn't make sense to have to wait for things to avoid taking damage, because waiting is damage. Instead of waiting, I just took ran through all the spike traps and lost the 5 seconds. The difference between waiting and taking the damage is probably like 2 seconds, but that's not significant enough to make a lasting difference.

My favorite part was the part at the end, but no spoilers! If you haven't played the game yet, give it a shot!
