Anybody know how to fix my trainer sprite just being a jumbled mess of pixels on the title screen? or how to update the game properly..?

I figured it out, you just have to add the game to your steam library. Open steam, click on games, and then navigate to "add a non-steam game to my library", works like a charm.

How exactly did you get the gamepad to work in the first place? I've tried both my ps5, and switch controllers, and the game doesn't seem to recognize them. 

So I'm new to playing games that I didn't get off of steam, how exactly do I get the game to recognize that my ps5 controller is connected?

How exactly does one run the game once its been downloaded?
