Hello! I played this with my brother a few months ago and absolutely adore it! I did hack the game to add another act 2 since it was just me and him but that worked surprisingly well. We played with the Twisted Fairy-tales preset and I expected a story that really got to poke a tropes. And while we kind of did that, We ended up making a buddy musical about two background characters in another person's story trying to make their own adventure for themselves. It had betrayals, twists, an excellent villain, and tons of characterization. I'd super recommend the game to anyone that loves making stories and definitely to fans and actors of theater.

My Play-through Summary:

One, a selfish and nice but socially closed off (in making close friends) bartender named Al C'haul, and the other a fox that makes plans to convoluted to ever be seen as competent or powerful named Vixen. The two started of hating each other. But after, Vixen tricks and convinces Al to join him to get the wishing star. Secretly though, he wants to use Al to get the star himself so Vixen can wish to never get caught. And the two set off.

Although Vixen finds out earlier that the king is actively being overthrown by the jester, Fantouche. The two get captured on their way to where the star will appear (above the castle) but get found by Fantouche and sent to the dungeon. They break out by using Pinocchio's nose (since he was also sent to the dungeon). Al sees that multiple citizens got captured. He even recognizes a bunch of them since they frequent his bar. But some let slip on Vixen's plan to trick Al. Al turns on vixen and marches up to Fantouche with the freed townsfolk to knock Fantouche off the throne.

But in the process, the king dies by the jester's hands. So Al gets a bit power hungry and demands a reward. The townsfolk, now a crowd, cheer on Al and see him as more worthy to care for the lower-class people, being an average Joe. Vixen gets kicked out of the kingdom by Al for what he calls treason. Though secretly, vixen is able to sneak to the star...but I don't remember what he wished for. I'll update this comment if I can ask my brother what it was. Sorry to leave on a cliffhanger.

Am I the only one that isn't getting the cutscene to load? i'm on steam deck and I can click play but afterwards I end up in a black screen loop where nothing happens? Is there a setting I can change?
