Hi everyone! We just opened the doors to Ohm Sweet Ohm, a free browser tech demo about the least glamorous job in science: night-shift electrician.
Play it here: https://boticlawn.itch.io/ohm-sweet-ohm
The pitch in one breath: You are alone at the Zero Point Institute. The machines want power. The cables are in a box. Nobody told you which box.
What you actually do
- Pull cables. Real, physical ones. They sag, drag, tangle and get under your feet. This is a feature, and we will not be taking questions.
- Wire up eight rooms. Generators, taps, fuses, relays, and one very picky test rig that wants exactly 80 W from three inputs.
- Don't cook anything. Thin cable plus big load equals smoke. Fuses trip. The order board judges you silently.
What it looks like
Like a Saturday-morning cartoon: flat colours, one shadow tone, thick black lines, no shiny anything. If a surface looks glossy, that is a bug and it gets filed. It runs on our own cel-shading pipeline in Three.js and WebGL 2, with the cable physics on Rapier in a worker. No downloads, no accounts, no tracking. It lives in the tab and stays there.
What it is (and isn't)
This is Section A: a 15-step tutorial across eight connected rooms, no timer, no game over. Think of it as the first floor of a building that is still being built. Expect rough edges. If a cable does something physically inspired but not physically correct, that is a feature request in disguise.
Desktop only, mouse and keyboard. We would love to hear where you got stuck, what tangled, and which fuse you blew first.
