This was a great bite-sized level which was clever in its design and mechanics. There were a few quirks that impacted my playthrough, but hopefully they’re easy to iron out if you ever wanted to expand on this:

  • I took a couple of hits when jumping on enemies’ heads while they were trying to bite me. We both took damage at the same time, but it felt unavoidable after committing to the jump. It does also feel like they charge and attack you too quickly, and you don’t have much time to react (especially if they spot you from around a corner or off-screen).

  • Some of the parts where it’s showing a cutscene (e.g. opening a gate) could be sped up a bit.

  • After grabbing the red key, I started getting framerate hiccups that got worse until I finished the level. I don’t know if it’s linked to all the enemies spawned near the exit portal, but it was almost unplayable in those final 60 seconds. I have a fairly beefy PC, but everything before that point was fine.

  • An options screen for the standard graphics options and camera controls would be nice to have.

It’s a very enjoyable demo with super refined platforming mechanics. I often find that controls kill my enjoyment with a lot of 2D platformers/Metrovanias, but I always felt in control when playing.

My only issue was the horrific framedrops I experienced in the latter half of the demo. I don’t know if there’s a memory leak or it’s due to larger rooms with more enemies/coins, but I would get frequent drops to single digit frame rates when platforming. I managed to power through the lag, but only because I knew there wasn’t much left.

I posted this lower down, but I managed to figure out the code if you want to discover the secret.

(Spoilers) Find the code on the side of the water cooler, next to the battery machine, by lifting up the ‘Out of Order’ sticky note. Then go to the locker in your bedroom and look down to enter it.

It's a clue, I managed to find the code and what it unlocked last night. If you don't want to figure it out, then you have to... (Spoilers below)

This job is hard work, remember to stay hydrated and keep a clear mind by cleaning your room, putting your clothes away and getting a good night's sleep :)
