here are my (admittedly sproadic) thoguhts on the game
this game is... okay, i guess. i like the idea as a whole but the execution is pretty flawed right now
first of all, i think its trying too hard to be "modern" and "hip hop cool radical tubular", which i dont think works with a game like shobon action at all. this is made a bit more obvious by the levels being called "acts" like sonic mania. the graphics also look like a stereotypical indie aseprite platformer, but thats not necessarily bad (it looks nice!
the music is really good but im not really a fan of how its only using the cheetahmen melody and not the other melodies like the underground theme (my favorite!
the level design is where it gets really janky. i wont comment on level one since its just a recreation of the first level from the original
level two is the worse of the two in my opinion. the five pipes section is especially weird because there is no good indication that you need to go throguh them. i suggest making the ghost pipes (all but the first one) layered above the fog so the player has more clues to experiment. i guess the best part about the level is the theming because i love rain and the ending because its pretty interesting (my solution appears to be unintended? i held the jump button to bounce higher on the onions
level three gets better in design. it definitely overused the floor breaking gag too much thoguh
as for the levels as a whole, they feel too uncreative i guess? theyre using the tricks from the first level too much when theyve got like three more levels to work with, not the mention completely original mechanics. when i heard the wind getting stronger in level two, i thoguht it was gonna be part of a trick with shobon getting blown away or something. the original tricks that we already got are pretty awesome thoguh (i loved how the spikes float up before crashing into the ground in the third level
i hope this isnt coming off as negative!!! i really like this game so far and its what shobon action may have been missing
