It is based on the 5 alignment system of Holmes Basic. So no lawful evil, lawful good etc.

Magic *is* difficult to procure from the treasure tables. I made this change because I have level 4 magic users at my tables who still only have their original spells. Its frustrating and unfun for them as this is their only way to actually progress their characters.
Magic users level up the slowest, they have the harshest gear limitations, and the few spells they do get are completely random.
Any changes I make is not without layers of playtesting and player feedback.
huh. The rules on surprise seem to be missing. Great catch ill make sure to add them back in. In the meantime:
You just roll a d6. Monsters and players are surprised 2 in 6 chance(some monsters vary). Light source modifies this. You roll 1 die for each side (or for players you can even do each player) and that is only rolled at the beginning of a combat encounter in which it is pertinent.
This is all I have to update on: https://blk-feather-press.itch.io/ded-mtl/devlog/988623/update
