Thanks for playing. Yeah, I really like this idea. Definitely playing around with it in the future. Working on the patch to upload as soon as the jam judging period is over, and I already have a some ideas for additional units and puzzle mechanics. Sadly this very small prototype, already eats up all of pico8's cartridge space. So only way to expand is make a sequel or use a different engine. Maybe it's finally time to learn godot. . .
You just made someone who doesn't care about football play a gain all about it and actually have fun.
Only thing I'd say is that the colour contrast of the players to the pitch and the opponents in some of the puzzles could be clearer. E.g. first one I did, players were green and it was a bit uncomfortable.
I'd say stick with Black, white, pink, purple, red and blue.
They are all fairly distinct from one another but also contrast the green pitch nicely.

Thank you for playing. Yeah, I threw it together in an afternoon so the difficulty curve hasn't been tuned all that well lol.
Basically because the notes appear faster as measures are completed, the measures then complete faster which means the notes move faster which means the measures finish faster . . . Etc etc. It's an endless feedback loop of increasing speed causing it to spike exponentially.
Currently focussing on my submission to the GMTK Game Jam so this will be on the back burner for a while but may come back once that's done to tune it up a little bit. (Easiest solution off the top of my head would be to just get rid of the measures um . . .measure entirely.)
Hey! Thanks for playing. :)
Yeah, pico 8 animation and I do not get on well . . .
I just started working on the full game inspired by this prototype and have fixed the animation bugging out by changing how the timing is done and adding a cool down for actions to prevent spamming. Also polished up the animations by correcting minor art errors and adding extra frames of animations. It's gonna take a while but it's looking so good already!
Will definitely check your game out!
Thanks :)
Yeah, I've since learned how to do pico8 animations in a way that prevents the glitching sprite animations. In pico 8, animations are notoriously quirky. Sadly not in time to update for the jam but I really like the concept of this game and want to work on a more fleshed out version when I get the time.
I tried running your game but couldn't get it to load. It's an issue with my hardware not your software. I'll be sure to check it out when I get back to my PC :)

Sharing mine around at the mo but making a list of everyone's and will get to as many as I can. :)
