Yeah I completely agree with you on the death penalty but by the time I realized it I didn't have enough time to redesign the game around a lighter penalty. As far as time spent waiting at the upgrade button the idea was for you to not do that because it takes so long and just go back out again never spending more than the time to fill up your life again but maybe that didn't shine through well enough. If I continue this game at all after the jam there are a lot of things I'd like to rework for sure. I would encourage you to give it another shot and try to have the next upgrade at the upgrade button before the last one runs out of uses that way there is no waiting.

The controls are actually really fun needing to keep one hand on the mouse to aim destroys all muscle memory of typing and makes it a much harder and interesting challenge then forgetting what key your finger is over from frantically mashing buttons looking at the keyboard to see then by the time you look back the slime has moved again, I quite enjoyed it.
This is fair criticism, some people enjoy the repetitive clicking so there is an entire genre about it and others do not. As far as waiting for the button to come up there is always something you could be doing instead of waiting for it to come up so it becomes a matter of scheduling tasks and bouncing back and forth between things rather than just sticking to one thing and one thing alone. No need to be sorry being critical of each other is a key aspect of growth and none of my friends I showed the game to wanted to say anything negative about it so I appreciate it. I went for a no explanation invisible tutorial kind of vibe and if I got burned for it so be it.
