We’re a small indie team of three seeking a dedicated and creative 3D artist (bonus points for 2D/skeletal animation experience) to join our sci-fi pixel art action-adventure, three months in development. While it’s a pixel art game, we’re designing it in 3D and then pixelating the results to create a unique aesthetic (which is already done so no need for you to dive into shaders if you haven't dealt with that yet)- it reduces workload our side while enhancing visual style, similar to Dead Cells or Octopath Traveler. Our goal is to push the action-adventure genre forward by creating more interactive experiences that give players the opportunity to actually be creative with the mechanics the game provides.
Who you’d be working with
-
Max (me, 26) - speaks code, dreams games. Previous work positions as developer, software development coach and test automation engineer, working on the game code full-time for about 80 hrs a week (yes i put all of my time in this, i literally don't do anything else other than eat, sleep, code and write this post right now)
-
Liam (20) - Our story writer crafting immersive narratives and engaging characters. Liam is our latest protege. He studies computer science and will one day rival my position as lead developer :D Until further expansion he will be focusing on storywriting.
-
Konsti - (26) Versatile designer and all-rounder, bringing UX, gameplay and level design. Konsti is a jack of all trades and a good friend of mine i know from my previous workplace. Back when we came up with our idea, we felt like Jobs and Wozniak. We might even change both our names to "Steve" in the future. His main area of expertise is design as that is what he studied. He also maintains our web page and will cut videos for us (we're doing YouTube videos soon).
What we bring to the table
Expertise in software development: With years of experience in software development, programming and test automation, we can ensure a solid and efficient development pipeline.
Creative collaboration: By joining our team as a 3D artist, you’ll be part of a small but ambitious group striving to become an official game studio. We regularly make decisions as a team, and you will have an active role in these discussions, ensuring your voice contributes directly to bringing our shared vision to life.
Revenue sharing and future funding plans: We cannot pay you immediately, however the game will be sold on Steam and mobile app stores, with revenue shared fairly among the team. We plan to fund the development via Kickstarter. Therefore it's our goal to have a working prototype by the end of the year, so you’ll need to ensure you have the time and dedication to meet this milestone. if the tools you need for development turn out to have affordable licensing ("spine" for skeletal animations for instance), we can provide you with them.
We’re not planning to expand the team further. This is your chance to join a focused group where your contributions truly matter and might even secure you a position as lead 3D artist in the industry. Basically, if you’re a 3D artist and want to leave your mark in the action-adventure genre, we want to hear from you.
