the reason it works in 0.8.2 is cause it was made (or at least updated) for that version. and yes if you're using shimloader you're already using a mod
one that's a mod so that shouldn't go here and second of course it doesn't work it needs to be updated first like the usual case with mods and game updates
yeahhh no that is just there to make the base more realistic, remember this is a job normally done by more than one person so it's normal there are multiple of it
