Really neat to see all of these insights into the development! I was a big fan of the soundtrack but I never put together how the emotions and context of the story were echoed in the individual tracks, it makes me appreciate them even more.

I love seeing the development of the visuals throughout this post, and how the environment is a love letter to your home city. That authenticity really shines through.

I also think it’s really cool how the story in this game is about two people meeting and getting to know one another and that sort of mirrors you and Snek meeting and doing the same!! XD

AWESOME!! I love your choices! XD

This was a wonderful tumble. A lot said with a little, they are robots but the feelings explored in this are absolutely human. I really enjoyed the art (as always), each page was so evocative, the colors, the compositions, the effects all of it made it enjoyable to explore.

I am blown away at the creativity here, this is just dripping with style!! So cool to see a frame story and get more context for the dress up mechanics, having descriptions for the choices and even little dialogue one-shots for Ahab and Adagio is so adorable.

Also, I was so shocked to learn that this used the dollmaker template (I never would have guessed), you really made it something special and unique, so cool to see!!

Incredible!! OMG the art is so beautiful and choices are so coool!! You did such a good job on the custom color fields everything can be customized, omg it’s so cool and intuitive!! I especially love how you can copy the hex code so you can match colors very easily.

You really made the template your own, it makes me really happy T^T

I loved it!! The art is so so cute, the writing and the voice performance was awesome too! Navigating the social dynamics of being a trans teacher in this world seems truly terrifying, but your story highlights how important that sort of representation can be for students. I absolutely agree that queer educators save lives, we need more of them, not less.

This was awesome!! I love my grumpy bot so much!!

I like the historical angle a lot and the art is so beautiful!!

Had a lot of fun with this one, the art style is so good!

so cool!!

Awesome! I also sent a friend request!

I really enjoyed reading this and I learned a lot. I also liked the presentation of it all with highlights and underlines and cutout collages, it was fun to explore the pages.

HELL YEAH! I love your choices! I’m so happy that you had fun with it and you found the hidden things! XD

Thank you for playing! I love your outfit!!

Oh wow, what a delicious comment!! Thank you for playing and sharing these words!

Hello Fiona! This template doesn’t have support for it out of the box, but I THINK it shouldn’t be too difficult for you to try and add… I’ll write down some of my own thoughts on how I would approach adding this feature:

Firstly, you probably don’t want the buttons to be draggable anymore, which means almost all of the code in the draggable script isn’t needed anymore! It’d probably be easier to make a new script from scratch.

I would probably still keep the texture button nodes, but I would make them toggles (toggle mode ON) and assign all the buttons of the same category to a unique button group (under base button, bottom right of your screenshot) - this way you could only assign one shirt at a time or one hairstyle, etc

I would remove the draggable.gd script and make a new one that references a Sprite2d Node, and hides / shows that sprite based on the buttons toggle status. ( I can go into more detail if you want)

Then I would drag each texture into the scene (which would add them as Sprite2D nodes) position them how I want them to be worn and then connect that sprite node with the button node of the same texture. I would probably put the sprites under the containers node and not inside it, the buttons would stay under their panels just like the template.

I would then make sure each item of the same type(shirts, dresses, shoes, etc, get their own button group (there can only be one button toggled in a group at a time).

I’d probably also have something in the script to hide them automatically on start and a way for each button to listen for a reset command.

Then I would position all of the buttons in a pleasing way using the same setup as the template.

I’m happy to try and help you out more if you want, just let me know! ^^ (discord is basicbean123)

Your art looks absolutely adorable btw I’m excited to play it!!

It’s soo cute!! TT^TT

It’s sooo cute! I love all of the variety behind the choices too, I never knew renpy could make things like this.

I really like the color pallet and Ernesto is just so cuute! >.<

so so so cuute!!!

Love this artstyle!! I wish I was even half as cool as him XD

OMG I would have never though to do that! XD love it!

Adorable!! >.<

Holy shit this is so sick! The controls feel so mechanical and meticulous it was easy to feel you were operating a drone, love that so much. The environment was so evocative, the spaces were so varied and full of character and the lighting made it feel so abandoned and mysterious. What a vibe. The writing is fantastic, and frustratingly realistic and heartbreaking, and the ending is all of those things as well. The vapid corporate speak never fails to rile me up lol. The sound design was also really nice adding to the abandoned and mechanical atmosphere, the occasional haunting moan echoing through the place was also fitting especially by the end.

So impressive to me that this was made in 40 hours.

Also, maybe this is a bug, but I went down the super deep hole and there didn’t seem to be an collision at the bottom so I was able to clip through the map.

Such a cool game, very inspiring.

Lovely little game! I think it’s really impressive how you capture these small intimate moments so well, no flashiness, no big twists or crazy settings, just two people talking. It’s very lovely and very human.

Your love of typography is on full display and I am here for it!! It was cool to see the words represented physically, seeing their reflections on the lake water or being enveloped in the leaves of trees and bushes. It’s like the words themselves are living in this space and the people are just traveling through it. I also like how you portrayed sarcasm, so cute.

The music tracks are all bangers, no surprises there. :P

The art was really nice, I think it can be hard separate an unreal engine game from that “unreal” look but the exaggerated warm light and atmospheric glow and the beautiful crunchy dithering was all delightful and distinct.

Adorable!!!

What a ride. The art, the characters, the story, the drama, it was also so compelling. There are so many themes and ideas and moments packed into this game it’s just wild.

What is the nature of the soul? Can magic be rationalized by logic? What color is Akira’s panties?

These are just some of the questions this game asks you to ponder and there is A LOT to ponder about. While I had a hard time getting a full grasp on the timeline of events and understanding all of the character motivations, it didn’t impact my enjoyment at all, the bits I was able to piece together were very satisfying. It was just fun to be along for the ride and try to solve this puzzle even if the answers aren’t always clear. I wager this is on purpose as the world itself seems to be steeped in secrets and conspiracies; it makes me think of the Metal Gear Solid franchise, you feel like you’re tumbling down this rabbit hole of lies and secrets never fully getting a grasp of the situation but loving the ride nonetheless.

On top of all of the secrets and the dramas and the body-horror, there is another side of the game which is the cute slice of life elements.

Adelle, a hardened cynical warrior-type is essentially forced to live a somewhat quiet and mundane life for a while, going on dates and getting into silly shenanigans with a cast of cute girls, (Adelle’s weakness) and it’s extremely endearing to see her slowly soften and have that cold heart melt a little. I thought the entire cast of girls were just adorable, each had their own flavor and style built on classic anime archetypes… Maybe except for Miriam? I don’t know what box Miriam falls into, she is absolutely unhinged in the best possible way.

A few other thoughts: Miriam’s monologues were amazing, absolutely filled with technical STEM jargon and esoteric philosophy making them almost hard to parse at times but an absolute joy to read. How did someone write like this? I am in awe.

The humor is great in this, which for some reason I wasn’t expecting many jokes or gags, but they were a great balance to the darker themes. I especially enjoyed Miriam’s running gags, like the Adelle injections and the “landmines”

Possible Spoilers

Lavandula… holy smokes. I liked how we learn about her in flashbacks and cutaways and Adelle only meets up with her in that ultimate climax of emotions. I think it really did a good job of building her up to be this huge presence… Loved it.

The art, goodness the art! There are so many amazing pieces of art in this game, it’s so indulgent and I love it all so much, reading the retrospective was a delight and one of the reasons was more art! Also, I think there is something to this mechabare thing… XD

I’m a pretty slow reader so it took me around a week of playing in the mornings to see all of the endings, but it sort of felt like it played out in real-time which was fun.

This is an achievement. I’m inspired. I am glad that this game exists.

This was awesome, I got really sucked into the story and each of the characters are really well written and their thoughts and internal voices were all so distinct. They feel so real and messy and lost, but still human despite what the federation would claim. Man I would hate to live in that world lol it’s probably the point of the game to some extent but the Federation is WAY scarier than the apparitions to me. Lousy food, no privacy, and you can’t orgasm on your own? Fucking hell just kill me already! (So I guess what I’m realizing is that I am a certified purple lol)

I really liked the line art and the expressions were very cute, the sexy scenes were really hot too (both visually and the written descriptions). Loved the use of the 3D models for the mechs, the design of the mechs were so sick and the way they were rendered with those crunchy effects in the shadowed areas is like just delicious…

The apparitions were an interesting threat and I liked how the story really leaned into their unknown-ness, the way your described/described-around them was really fun.

Spoilers

I hate how you saved just some of the admins at the end, but you left it vague so there is a chance that Floss is still alive… AHHGG!! (I’m honestly hoping that maybe I just missed a detail or something this will haunt me)

One of my fav moments: Purple’s metalbody getting shot in the crotch (sooo goood)

One of my fav lines: Pendulums of anger

Thank you!! I’m glad that you enjoyed it! ^^

Thank you so much for your kind words! T^T it means a lot!! <3

Really well done, everything feels so intentional and measured. I interpreted the struggle depicted here a number of different ways but I think whatever the interpretation is, the beautiful sentiments at the end will likely apply…

I really liked all of the specific details in the writing, it made the setting feel very vivid. The music and art were awesome the story was interesting, exciting and horrifying. I knew that they were bio-mechs from the description but I didn’t think they were gonna be THAT biological lol, what a cool and freaky world! Also, regarding the title, there were many moments that made me think “bug grinder” in several different contexts. Awesome work.

What a cool interpretation of noise. I could absolutely relate to the endless onslaught of distractions and inconveniences that are required to simply exist while trying to create something. The self-doubt, second-guessing, life-stresses.. all of that felt so damn real I started to get stressed out lol

I really loved how different the two routes were! I think it’s important to play both, together they show just how important / impactful those in-between times can be when it comes to what actually ends up on the page at the end. To that point, getting to see the contest story changing was just so cool to see and really sold the message.

You did a great job on all of the descriptions and sensory details, they both made me feel very anxious at times and very relaxed and joyful at others. The characters felt very real and I enjoyed all of their banter a lot.

The program visuals and UI changes were really awesome, and it was nice to see clippy again lol

Thank you so much for playing and sharing your thoughts!! I completely agree 100% <3

You are so sweeet!! It was a fun challenge to write like that and it’s been nice to know some have connected with it. I love love love your descriptions of radio, what a beautiful and romantic way to put it! T^T
