hello! sorry for responding to this late, but i did rerate your game! just thought id let you know on what to improve before the jam ends so, here it is:
- mouse randomly teleporting after completing a window
- the progress on window seemingly taking a bit longer than what it looks? im not sure if this is intentional, but it made the game overall easier and idk if thats a good or a bad thing, but considering my next point its really a bad thing
- ignoring a red window and just speedrunning the others dont really punish you, so the game becomes needlessly easier
- i only ever got to day 3 because i was bored waiting for something to happen but, what does the time do? afaik it doesnt matter?
also uh on the audio part, i didnt play this game with audio on so it was pretty awkward but i didnt want to low it rate just because i didnt use audio, so i rated the audio category 3 stars!
overall good game to play for like 5 minutes (perfect for a gamejam!), and the art style like the ms paint drawings is really a selling point (at least to me)!
hi uh thanks! i had to speedrun the items so budget was at an all time low lmao.
also made the rules before gameplay so didnt have time to make a tutorial, this was probably the biggest mistake since i just expect people to know the gameplay just from the rules alone (which was barebones) lol.
about the metagame thingy, i decided the completion before nerfing the game (not that it was THAT hard before, you still need to beat 2 rounds tho this time the goal for points is half of what it was before) and uh i didnt wanna bother isha by changing it so kinda just left it there.
hey, just saw this message, thanks!
i kinda changed the gameplay after making the rules (yes i made the rules before the gameplay lmao), so i understand that people dont get whats happening on their screen lol.
about the music, originally this game was supposed to be a game like "world's hardest game", but then again i changed the idea to balatro roguelike so the music stays like that (tho it is subjective since i thought the music was good).
oh and also 1 last thing, most feedback i got was either the game was too hard, its hard to understand, or the crt effect being too strong
i did manage to 2 of the issues like the game being too hard because previously the goal formula was (300 * (round ^ 2)) which makes the progression really extreme lol, so i changed it to (150 * (round ^ 2)) (tho its worth to note that i participated in the metagame before changing the difficulty, so i respect the people who finished it before it got easier), although the round is infinite theres actually a win condition where you need to reach 1m points before (now 10k). the second issue was the crt effect being too strong (theres actually a setting for it, but its still a bandaid issue since you need to sacrifice quality for accessibility which wasnt the greatest thing ever).
thanks! static numbers (0, 1, 8) are supposed to not flippable after 1 flip, but the thing is that i forgot to reset every number's flip count to 0 when the round ended, that resulted in the numbers changing after round ended but their flip count is still the exact same (honestly i dont even know why i decided to make a flip count for the numbers lol, maybe it was because i wanted to make an item based on that but forgot? idk)
mult isnt explained anywhere because originally it was supposed to be a futoshiki (unequal) puzzle based game when i made the rules (and the title of the game), but then i switched to balatro instead and forgot to update the rules lmao
to be straightforward: you get +1 mult and +(number) points for every flipped number
thanks! i originally wanted to polish more things last hour, but i just couldnt stay awake to test for bugs and didnt want to risk it since im still a beginner, uh also the background to the skill description thing was the default tooltip background for godot, since again im a beginner i dont know how to change it. appreciate the feedback tho, ill use this for future games!
thank you! ill take your feedback and try to implement it in this last moment before files are locked.
also gl with metagame lol, ive always wanted to 100% it since yesterday but procrastinated, ill try it later after i get enough rest (after i upload another build probably).
edit: hi, i wont upload another build ive decided, im too tired for ts.
im not exaggerating when i say this, this is THE best game ive played in the juniper dev game jam.
first off, im not sure if this is intentional, but the game (especially the music, ill talk about that later) feels much like ultrakill? but anyway, getting into music:
oh boy, the music in this game are absolute BANGERS, again as i said, the amen break motif combined with shooting creatures from hell makes it feel like im in ultrakill (but 2d), if this is intentional, you cooked. if its not, you still cooked.
you did tutorial in a really unique way, and it definitely worked.
the voice acting is very good, i assume you voice this yourself? but it fits the tutorial guy character perfectly, also while were on the topic of character, the way your character walk is just funny lol.
now getting into the nitpicking territory:
- the leave button in the shop not having sfx at all
- the wave ui at the middle top of your screen can block your character, this also happens with your bullets deck
- reloading bullets not automatic (though i can see why as different items do different things)
- having to spin to avoid blood bullets (i know, the theme of the jam, but if its actively hurting the overall gameplay of the game, itd be better if you switch it with something else (maybe spinning the gun increases bullet speed or something)
oh and also 1 thing to note: i died while fighting hell spider (he had 1/4 of his health) because of skill issue, so if i miss anything or if theres already something in the game that cancels out the nitpicks, then my bad.
i played this game for 1 HOUR, it definitely did the job of getting you hooked from your first impression.
really like the creativity, visuals, and audio of this game
the obstacles could be brutal at times, like a pie in the middle followed by a spinning thing, and because your spin is so slow and have such a fat hitbox, you just cant dodge it
overall good art! though i dont really like the gameplay of this, i love the visuals!
