Now I have to go back and find it!! lol

This sample definitely makes you want more! It'll be so cool to see all the elements come together in the final game. The core mechanics are solid. There is some learning curve to it that other people have brought up. Maybe if there was something relatively low stakes to start off the story so players get their feet wet before diving into a full investigation...? But on the other hand, it does motivate you to do multiple play-throughs the way it is set up now. I like that there are multiple avenues for uncovering clues and establishing connections. You don't lean on all the available options in the first investigation (surveillance didn't seem relevant in many circumstances, even if you attempt it), so it'll be very interesting to see how those factor in. It kind of reminds me of word or number puzzles where you get that dopamine hit when you finally unlock a new part of the overall picture. So it definitely feels like it's all heading in the right direction!

Drew, this is GREAT for having just started out in Unity. Love the hand-drawn sprite style and the demented death screen laugh! Came over to check this out from udemy since I'm taking Code Monkey's visual scripting course also and saw your review. Keep it up!

Really digging the menu format! What a cool way to introduce you to the gameplay AND show the credits and navigate around. I used a controller for the levels, which could feel a little slippery at times, but then again, so is climbing around on furniture, so it definitely reminded me of the "Floor is Lava" show in that aspect. One thing that felt maybe a little like a cheat for me was being able to "run" mid-jump, so you could start with a regular jump, toggle the run to go farther in midair, then toggle back.

But this is a lot of fun to play, and that's really the point. I giggled a bunch face-planting over couches and missing the smaller landing points by a millimeter. You never feel like the game is doing you wrong, though; you're in full control.

Was this a Construct 3 build? Just curious!

This is definitely a concept that could grow into a larger game -- more levels, moving obstacles, etc. Discovering the time attack mode after the first go-through was a nice addition! My time was not spectacular:

Expanding to a 2-player split-screen mode to compete against a friend would be pretty cool, too.

Checking out Vimlark's work always makes you smile. Taking straightforward concepts and focusing on fun gameplay foremost.

Sorry to hear that! What control scheme are you using? Even though this is the final build based on the tutorials, there are still bugs. The workaround for your issue may be to select a control scheme in controls first before playing. I'll see if I can update the build where it defaults to using arrow keys if you don't select a control scheme and just press play.

Enjoyed the game! Reminded me of the movie "Brick" a little. Would love to see it grow with more cases to solve! Interface and gameplay was very straightforward (glad you included the comment about not trying to combine items within your inventory).
