Polarity: Evolved by Astrix Games
Just published the first beta of my solo developed twin-stick shooter survival game. It's currently only playable with a controller but I'm planning to publish an update soon that will add music/SFX as well as keyboard/mouse support as well as some more balancing to the difficulty level.
Here's a basic overview of the game play:
- Red and blue enemies must be hit with bullets of the matching color
- Using the wrong color empowers them, making them faster and deadlier
- Level 3 enemies evolve into “evos” that are immune to both colors
- You can collect super bullets to deal with evos and boost your money multiplier
- Money is both your score and your currency for bombs/upgrades, but spending resets your multiplier and increases spawn rate + prices
- Survive as long as possible and decide: do you spend money to get stronger, or save it to build your multiplier?
I’d really appreciate any feedback, specifically on:
- Difficulty curve
- Clarity of the color/evolution mechanic
- Upgrade balance
- Whether the risk–reward loop feels satisfying
- General feel of movement, shooting, and pacing
