Thank you so much, glad that you liked it! Everyone on the team did so well on it. It was fun to make the different routes so that you can go full survival mode, stay oblivious to it all or embrace the crazy XD

Ending 7 choices:

TLDR: Be nice and selfless with Sophie but selfish with Curator, buff her combat abilities and debuff his

Let Sophie go to the toilets first + give your weapon to her when she asks for it (so that she's able to defend herself and survive). Then later when zombie appears, choose  "Flee" + ("Bolt for the next room" or "Guarantee your survival") => that way, Curator is forced to waste a lot of ammunition to save himself. In the last room, disagree ("Humanity...") and choose "Fight".

The MC is gender-neutral, they can be anything you want! In the script, all characters directly talk to MC so the player is always referred to as "you".

Not me answering 2 months later... I didn't get the notification since it was an edit to your original answer.
Transition was done via show screen inside a regular label + renpy.pause to wait for the doorslide animation to end + hide screen after. You can perform ATL inside the screen.

Hahaha I loved that drama too! Queen is so funny. Although if you want other drama recs along the same vibes as this game, I'd say Love between Tiger and Rose is probably closer (it's also historical comedy if you haven't watched it yet).

Awww thank you so much! ^^ We got a new mini update out earlier this month with voice acting, new SFX (you can play music with the menu buttons now XD) and translations. We've also been working on the longer extended version with more endings and achievements, hopefully we'll be able to get it out soon!

Hi momo, depends on what aspect you're interested in specifically?
For the lantern sway on main menu, it was a custom shader by yours truly. Actually, for a previous project (The Man of my Dreams), I had already coded a custom grass sway shader. So the lanterns swaying was basically taking that grass shader (top moves, bottom of the image stays fixed) and reversing everything. Formula consists of quite a few cos and sin strewn around and playing with them until it looks right.

For custom menu buttons, it's about replacing textbuttons from default menu code by imagebuttons and adding actions to them depending on how you want them to react (cf official Ren'Py documentation for the syntax).

He's a tricky one, isn't he... Hope you managed to defeat him eventually!

Hahaha we also laughed a lot when giving him all these names. Originally we had even more names planned for him, but had to cut down the number to fit the jam’s word count restrictions. We may put back some of the names which didn’t make the cut in the extended version. I’m glad that you had fun playing it, just as we did when making it too ^^

Thank you so much for the praise! 🙈 It was definitely worth it to spend time on it to make it work. I guess all the things we couldn't do ingame due to the jam's limitations, we ended up overcompensating it with the GUI 😂

You'll see in next week's devlog how the character designer artist really went out of their way to design everything meticulously even if it sometimes ended up barely visible in the finished sprite... Definitely a lot of interesting design tidbits to say about it!

Hahaha his face is really deceptive, bringing so many unsuspecting players to their downfall with just one kiss! I've seen some also really like to give him fish on repeat each run for some reason, even though they're sabotaging themselves unknowingly 😂 

We were also like this when coding his expressions in, except when it sometimes turned into a horror movie when debugging and his arm flew around or his eyes blinked into the void of space 😂

It is also planned to release an improved version of The Man of my Dreams with improved backgrounds and animations, new custom music and new CGs for SunoFes too, so the team is also working on it as we speak. 

The extended version for ACoE would basically cover all the text we wanted to have in it but had to sadly cut due to the O2A2 1k word limit, with some new ideas along the way too.

If it does well, we could also plan for an even longer version long-term (as in full game with several other scenes and mechanics). But nothing is set in stone yet since we're taking it step by step.

I'm glad you enjoyed this devlog, hope the rambling wasn't too much! Please stay tuned for the one coming out next week, because that's where we will see the beauty of Fujun WIPs all over the page XD

Yes, the ending where MC survives but Fujun died was originally the outcome of ending 4 (you poison him but he doesn't poison you). However, we changed it to what it is currently since we thought of Fujun feeling petty enough in his last moments to bring MC down with him too. 

The addition of this outcome could work though if we split the case where Fujun dies of being fed the wrong dish from the case where he dies from the poison in his cup.

For word count reasons, we had to fuse these cases together into the same ending 4 unfortunately at the time. But extended would be free of these constraints, so definitely something worth to consider!

Good luck! You can do it! Try to remember all the little infos you gained from previous runs and go towards different directions/mindsets each time. It's pretty ironic that you often end up at ending 2 when it's the one most people usually struggle to get. The fact that you always end up at 2 or 4 may mean you're too good at changing his mind. Try harder to get hated :)

Ahahaha glad that you managed to figure out all the endings by yourself! Yes we also made a tab ourselves with all variables and plot branching to keep track of it all. And each time we discovered a logic loophole when replaying, we would add an extra line variation... while trying to stay under 1k words, the struggle T.T
The psycho one was also one of our favourite that's why we kept it for the later loops!

Love the Kirby and your interpretation of the characters. Fire is... too hot for words and Vampy looks appropriately undead. Also glad to see that FL has grown a new pair of arms 😌
