The videotape Randie just finished digitizing shows a fatal accident on a movie set. And now a dead-looking woman has appeared and warned Randie she only has five minutes and thirty-seven seconds to live...

Why yes, this short story did in fact begin its life as a Ring shitpost. And while working as an archivist, I was completely charmed by the fact that there exists professional guidance for classifying spirit communications.

I hope you enjoy the story, experiencing its afterlife as a reprint!

Hi! I will happily click...but first I wanted to note that I submitted to the jam as a newbie user, so this piece wasn't written specifically for the jam. If that's still cool, then I am happy to be a part of the bundle. If it's not cool, then that's okay, too.

Just published: a 6,900 word science fiction short story about derelict spacecraft, family reunions, and bodies...

"The Relative Positions of Dead Things in the Dark" is part of a series of linked stories of varying size, a couple published elsewhere, more on the way. Despite the "mutilation of a corpse" CW, this one still manages to be cozy.

(If you happen to have bought issue 4 of the UK magazine ParSec, you already have this story. Otherwise, please consider buying it as a standalone!)

I just released my second short story on Itch.io, "Stages of Pre-Bereavement." (I've decided to give some of my anthologized stories a second crack at readers on this platform.) This is a Black Mirror-ish science fiction story about impending widowhood. Under certain circumstances, it's possible to revive the dead, but the cloned bodies don't last long. How do you live with a dead man who is going to die again?

Stages of Pre-Bereavement.
