Bug report for 1.00.4 in Tundra Bear stage. After the first corridor with the falling icicle platforms, there’s a ladder going down. It wouldn’t let me climb down, but I could climb up an invisible ladder above it, but then got stuck on it. I have made this climb before without a problem, so I don’t know what specifically triggered it this time. Triggered on PC version.

I know you’re fielding a LOT of bug reports right now, and I wanted to reiterate that you’re kicking ass, and I’m enjoying the hell out of this game. You owe us nothing, but you’ve delivered a lot. Thank you.

Things are running SO much smoother on 1.00.4, but I just hit a weird bug.

I was fighting Rail Raccoon on my last life. On a fluke, we killed each other at the exact same time, he started exploding just as I was. It took me to the stage select screen immediately as if I had just died - Rail Raccoon’s portrait was grayed out as if I’d beaten him. But I didn’t get his weapon. When I beat his stage a second time, it didn’t fix the glitch.

Guess I’m gonna have to start over…

Just want to give kudos to the creator for how fast you’re cranking out these patches. You’re working overtime on a free game, and you deserve a lot of credit for it.

Okay, this game has a lot of good things going for it. It’s got an atmospheric vibe that’s a little different from the canon MMX titles, but really fits the post-apocalyptic storyline - it makes things feel more bleak and lonely, and I like it. Good level design, good music, and a respectable set of bosses for any MMX game. I think this game will be incredible once fully polished - but it is not fully polished.

For starters, the game is very buggy. From temporary freezes, to getting stuck at the top of a ladder unable to go anywhere but down, to a softlock from a moving platform leaving you behind with no way to reset it - there is quite a lot here that needs work. The music in Subterra Scorpion’s level sounds like the stereo is messed up when I hear it through my earbuds. There’s an annoying and inconsistent delay on the buster charge.

But the most obnoxious aspect are the menu navigation controls. You can remap the play controls, but you’re stuck with a very awkward and counterintuitive set of menu navigation controls that cannot be remapped and fight me constantly. Whenever you go to the pause menu (the button for which also annoyingly cannot be remapped) it reverts to these controls, which are constantly getting in the way. There was also a bug where the pause menu button kept putting the game in and out of full screen each time, along with pausing the game.

Graphics are pretty great for the most part. Background are is top notch, as is most of the sprite art. There are a few sprites that look lower quality than the others though, such as the enemies that skim on the water. But these are the exception, not the rule. The mavericks are very well done and creative. The ape is my favorite.

I am very eager to see what this game can become with the polish put on - and every issue I’ve mentioned is very fixable. But this probably shouldn’t have been released as a 1.0 - it still feels very much like it’s in beta. And it’s fine to be in beta - every game passes through that point. I’m still having fun with the game, and I tip my hat to the creator for the hard work they’ve clearly put into this. Even though there are issues, they should be encouraged that they’re doing something amazing here - it’s just not quite done baking yet.

I’m so glad I randomly remembered this game exists. It’s been so long, and I missed it.

But please. I’m begging you for an official Android version. The unofficial version is from clear back in 1.14.

I’m getting this too. Haven’t played on windows for a long time, so I don’t know if it’s new. Not having any problems on Android.

Just finished it! Cassava’s theme was SO addicting. And VINEGAR!!! It made me happy to see her again, even though her story is so sad. I really relate to her, as someone who feels hopeless because of health conditions myself, and I hope she can find happiness in the future…

Markiplier just did a video playthrough of Bad End Theater!!! I watched the whole thing and realized how much I’d missed in my own playthrough. >_<

Anyway, hoping that directs a lot of people to this game and your other work! I made sure to mention that you had lots of other awesome games in the comments of that video.

Android compatibility be damned! This game has SO much potential, and I would love to see you pick it back up. It doesn’t have to be remade from the VX Ace format — the MV has some down sides that are apparent in Lust Doll Plus, particularly with the menus and the map tile sizes forcing rooms to be smaller. You could SO make this a full amazing game just developing what you already have here, especially after having played through the Mabel version and seeing where you were going with it.
